Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

It really hurts Michigans chances of getting the 4 seed, going from unlikely to almost impossible. Long hair don’t care R U Rah though

We’re very unlikely to get a bye now (which was unlikely to begin with), but I think this sets up a RU-UM 4-5 matchup if we’re able to go 2-0 to finish the season and win the BTT opener.

Also, a better Rutgers resume helps out our NCAA tourney chances.

So what happened with the dumbness? More B10 tempers flaring? Anyone got a video or summary?

does a Flagrant 2 carry any sort of automatic suspension?

Indiana seems locked into the 9 seed, right? Don’t give them much of a chance @ Purdue and that 8/9 game could end up being a pretty tough game for them (Iowa, Michigan, MSU, etc.)

If they don’t win again, do they make the tournament?

No, but Illinois gets to hang a banner.

One thing IU has going for them is that the B10 tourney is in Indy. If they win their first game, they get a Wisconsin team who is beatable (although Indiana never beats them). I still wouldn’t trust that team at all.

I think they’re bad and their non schedule sucks so I don’t think CBB will be missing anything if they’re in the NIT.

There are a few scenarios where Penn State can get it

And this came right after Rutgers nearly threw the ball out of bounds up 3 with 20 seconds left.

Then, after the FT exchange, IU (which had just had a few minutes off) burned its last timeout with 17 seconds left.

Did Danny Manning seriously just waste a timeout for something the refs would’ve looked at during the media timeout anyway….

The funny thing is I STILL see bracket projections that have Indiana above Michigan (before tonight)

I’ve asked a few of them on twitter to explain but haven’t gotten a response.

The officials and the Big Ten are setting themselves up for some very bad situations. Mulcany retaliated to the fragrant foul from Johnson after Johnson fouled him and the whistle had blown. Johnson fouled him twice, grabbed his arm for the first foul and then gave him an upper cut with the elbow. All Johnson gets is the common foul. Encourages him to do it again. A foul should have been called on Johnson a couple of plays earlier too. The officials went to the monitor and did not do anything on that one.
Same situation as Wisconsin. Juwan through the punch. but Wisconsin started it.

Definitely worth noting that Xavier Johnson is far from innocent. His actions over the course of the season have proven that. But I do think in this case Mulcahey was the worse of the 2 and deserved the harsher penalty.

And the 2 teams collectively gave up 3 wide open 3’s to good shooters in the last 13 seconds.

No team with tjd as it’s best player is ever going be a good team

Always happens that way – the response gets noticed and more severely than the original provocation. But I agree that it’s only going to happen more if that’s the case. Brad Davison’s desire to have a career as an assistant is suddenly a lot more intense than before…

We won AND we got to punch Xavier Johnson. Not a bad day.

Johnson was shoving Mulcahy after the whistle had blown. Should’ve been flagrants both ways or at least something more than a common foul on Johnson. Oh well. Mulcahy definitely needs to tone down his theatrics with the refs (and not punch anyone else), it’s not doing him any favors.

Don’t worry, this is a safe space when it comes to punching people on a basketball court

How to play in the BIG - push first and let the other guy get ejected.
