What are they mad about?

the insinuation that Emoni may not play at MSU

Are they still that delusional? Literally no one thinks heā€™s playing there

Feel bad for Quinn. Writes a thoughtful, long, inquisitive article, but one blip gets aggregated and people get pissed at him lol

On that note, I didnā€™t see Isaiah Todd play last night for U-M. Has he been on the bench all year?

I hear Michigan has some other players soaking up the playing time: Josh Christopher, Adam Miller, and Jaden Springer.

Sucks we havenā€™t been able to see Todd

Which is the worse BQ beat reporter hot take:
  • Emoni Bates may not attend MSU
  • Juwan Howard may have used the worldā€™s thinnest cell phone from the bench during the OSU game

Nike keeps screwing Michigan teams over.

First with Adam Miller, now with Emoni Bates

I vote that this poll is gold.

The RCMB reaction to BQā€™s article wasnā€™t as bad as I expected, but the twitter reaction was pure comedy. At least BQ probably knows to expect that

You guys have made me a believer. Iā€™ve gotta get a copy and read it. Is it on The Athletic?

Thatā€™s good to hear. Putting my dislike of State aside, I grew up in SE Michigan and lived in Ann Arbor for eight years. Hearing about Emoni as the ā€œnext big thingā€ for so long definitely had me rooting for the kid long before he committed to State. For selfish reasons on multiple levels I hope he doesnā€™t end up playing there. Regardless I hope he ends up being a superstar (just not while wearing green and white).

Agreed. Itā€™s also a potential downside to the subscription model. Hard to tell people to just ā€œread the pieceā€ when the vast majority of the haters on Twitter arenā€™t subscribers. Obviously making the content available for free wouldnā€™t stop the spread of BS either, but I wonder if it makes it a little harder to combat misinformation/garbage narratives in this case.

if one of my kids has the potential to earn $100M as a professional athlete I assure you a college education will not be my primary priority for them. You can go to college at any point. You only get one shot to maximize your athletic and earning potential. Even great students need to worry most about their sport at that point.

Iā€™m not talking about him going to college or not after high school but what his dadā€™s doing right now with him.

Heā€™d be the #1 pick in 2023 if he didnā€™t play another high school game. Ypsi Prep is not a necessary step in his development. It seems more about his dad wanting total control over the last two years of his sonā€™s pre-NBA life.

And if the article is true and his shooting numbers are that poor, it sounds like the coaching heā€™s getting right now is pretty bad.

Hope donā€™t happen but if Michigan were to really struggle to close out season guaranteed a 1 seed in NCCA tourney? Think they have done enough and other teams below have not been impressive.

if he went to MSU his dead grandmother would convince him to stay for 4 years and cost him $100M of career earnings.

If I was Bates dad I would want to control who helped develop his talent. There is no world in which I would want Izzo to be a part of that no matter how much my kid loved the idea of playing for MSU. Go pro and let professionals develop him.
