Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

I remember that proud grin on Tim Miles’ face as he showed off those award-winning stalls. Like a new father!

I laughed at the time and am laughing again at preseason predictions of Rutgers contending in the Big Ten this season. I mean maybe not conference title but there were people who legitimately thought they could be too 4/5 level team.

I feel great about my anti-Rutgers preseason takes. They were ahead of us on pretty much every preseason poll LOL

Not just contending but they were the frontrunner around these parts for a while.

top 3 seeds in the BTT:

  1. Northwestern
  2. Wisconsin
  3. Rutgers

OTOH, it killed Brad Underwood and Illinois. Go figure.

How long were without Eli last year? over a week?

Im ready to take off work and come to Indy next week. Cant believe were 9 days away from the tournament and don’t have an answer regarding fans one way or another.(Or the league standings for that matter.)

Pretty much guarantee no fans for the BTT considering there were no fans for any big ten sports

The City of Indianapolis extended its capacity limits at bars and restaurants starting today. I figured if the NCAA Tournament at Lucas Oil will be at 25% capacity, maybe the B1G would too. Wishful thinking.

I took tonight off - what the hecking heck, Rutgers? What the heck happened?

Rutgers was down 30 with 4 minutes left before launching a massive comeback to make it more respectable.

Just… why? How are you down by 30 to those rec league all stars? When we played them I felt that multiple Nebraska starters would not start on many MAC teams :exploding_head:

The Big Ten campaign will finish with an epic showdown for 13th place: Nebraska at Northwestern on March 7. Must-see TV!

Sort of surprised Nebraska isn’t going shirts and skins by now

These are Torvik’s rankings since February 20th, the day MSU allegedly became a top team again.

I was a bit surprised to see MSU down at 46. I know Maryland was a beating, but I thought the other games would bring that up. Kturnup is probably right that people are too spooked about them.

Also, this link verifies that Michigan’s nonconference schedule was in fact the toughest in the country. Look at us, blowing out #1 by 20 points.

for the season MSU is 21st nationally in Kenpom’s Luck metric. I find that interesting

90% of their losses are complete ***-beatings. And they don’t really blow anyone out. But their SOR is way better than their predictive metrics because of those two recent wins.

You’d want to point out that they have shown signs of getting organized as an actual team, and are not the sum total of their terrible season and coach’s failure to mold them, but something a little better. Still, I will be surprised if we don’t beat them convincingly both home and away. I think it’s going to be a pleasure to watch.
