Keith Williams has pretty strong homeless man’s Duane Washington vibes and he’s a couple hours from Columbus at Cincy. Maybe not a coincidence he just put his name in the portal?
Gotcha. It was an admittedly bad joke:
Yeah, but there’s no way he has the same “plays his best against Michigan” vendetta, RIGHT?? Did we spurn him in recruiting or anything?
Also if Holtmann turns this poo poo platter (really leaning into Simmons bits I guess) into a top 25 team he’s a full on genius
Oh, sorry didn’t mean to reply just to you. Just that people were talking about Liddell.
IMO, they’re plenty talented. They’ve got enough frontcourt talent to be top 15-20. I’d be skeptical of a ceiling above that though
I think Liddell at the 4 negates a lot of what made that offense tick and I don’t think building an offense out of him shooting iso jumpers is going to go anywhere. Neither Key nor Brunk are imposing at the rim so they’ll probably struggle a bit on D too. They’ve got plenty of solid B1G players so I think they’re a tourney team but 4 or 5 seed is asking a lot.
Maybe Key or Branham go nuclear? Also, fair enough, both Wisconsin and Purdue turned the “lots of talented guys that don’t fit super well together” thing into top 25 teams.
“Rothstein” rearranged spells “DB”
Same with Hunter and Devonte’?
Yep – I promise you we’ll post here when one of them announces a decision.
Boy, having not watched much NBA lately (I am a very fairweather Piston fan) I didn’t recognize this bulked-up version of Moe at first.
And then lose in the first weekend of the Dance
Here’s the thing about Liddell at the 4… He’s gonna play 30ish minutes and Young is gonna play 30ish minutes. Not sure how many “4” minutes more than last year Liddell is truly going to have.
Hmm yeah blech fair point
Still could go through West Lafayette even if they’re worse than Michigan given the disgustingly easy big ten schedule luck they received again.
I get why people might laugh that team still won 13 big ten games and has much more returning than Michigan and an easier schedule. Painter has been on a roll since 2014 winning no less than 12 Big Ten games except for 2020. I could buy that Williams is the best returning player in the conference.
If Williams has a usage as comically high as last year again, I expect a very similar year. Maybe minus the brutal tourney upset. Like I said, they could still win the Big Ten with the schedule they got. If they have any hopes of reaching the lofty fringe top 5 standards, I don’t think it involves Trevion Williams having a 35% usage rate. We’ll see if their freshman develop enough for them to change that up.
