Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Breaking: Illinois just announced they will be hanging another banner - "2021-2022 Big Ten Champions (AKA it’s not fair that a couple guys left early, so we deserve to be crowned champions anyway)

They should also hang a Most Banners banner.

I think it was expected by everyone but Illinois fans. He almost stayed in the draft last year, his assistant coach that recruited him is gone, they recruited another Center from the portal, etc

Didn’t realize they had recruited another center - my surprise was simply based on thinking he wasn’t particularly high on anyone’s draft list.

Yep – a year ago the word was that Kofi was desperate to stay in the draft. Think it was a foregone conclusion he was leaving this year.

People need to stop with the if they are not a projected1st rd pick(more rencelty 1st or 2nd rd) they’ll come back thinking. Most illinois fans are still trapped in that thinking. Most pro prospects dont even care if they are picked anymore. They just want to get to some form of the pros asap.

Ayo came back to Illinois this season so I can’t say that I blame them.

Interesting that Spike left Louisville after a (very) short stay to go into being a basketball trainer and seemed to be wanting to do his own business.

Banton has an interesting game but I don’t think it’s anywhere close to NBA-ready. Don’t think he’ll get a combine invite and I suspect we’ll see him back in Lincoln this winter.

Does anyone know when tickets go on sale for the upcoming season?

Banton is like the less skilled version of Kyle Anderson. I can’t see him getting drafted anywhere and I’m sure the feedback will be that he needs to learn how to shoot the ball.

Painful but accurate. :joy:

I know it’s because of the additional COVID year but it’s still very funny seeing all those seniors on the “early entry” list – even funnier when you consider Mike Smith and D’Mitrik Trice are fifth-year guys.

Trice: “Yeah, I was an NBA draft early entrant.”
Someone: “Weren’t you already 25?!”
Trice: “. . .”

A lot of Big Ten flavor on this team… no Michigan flavor.

Canada and France are participating in the U19 World Cup, though. Not sure if Caleb, Moussa will beo n those rosters or not.

Update: Diabate is in the initial 25.

Canada hasn’t announced their roster yet?

I can’t seem to find it by Googling? I’d be surprised if Caleb wasn’t on it.
