does Holtmann want a raise? that’s a little bold given the past few weeks

This does not come as a surprise.

That’s what they all say

Which is true but Porter turned down 17-18 million from St. John’s to stay at Loyola. Granted St. John’s ain’t what it used to be but still, it’s a step up in pay and school prestige that he’s turning down.

I think Moser would turn down Oklahoma if offered but not for that reason. I just don’t think it’s a fit for him in terms of recruiting footprint or culture

He was really really close to accepting though from what I remember. I feel like that means he’s open to the idea of leaving, unless he just had a total change of heart

Moser coaches at A&M and Little Rock way back so it’s not entirely foreign territory to him

Bingo. How many people can end up with egg on their faces here? Funny.

Well then he must be waiting for the Nortwestern position to open up or maybe DePaul.

Might be super freaky and just like Loyola.

He was an assistant at Butler under Holtmann and then at Nebraska with Miles. I think he maybe got a head job since then

As a Butler fan, I can tell you he very much manipulated that situation to his advantage.

Wouldn’t be a surprise to see him play the game again.

Did he do similar there through his agent?

Sort of, he turned down the job and then went back to them a day or two later and got a better offer and took it. He’s talked publicly about how hard that was on him, which might be true. He’s also made a few really savvy moves in his career and seems to be a ladder climber. For instance, he left a SoCon HC job to be the lead assistant at Butler with Brandon Miller. He had worked previously with him and would’ve known he was an emotional ticking time bomb and that he could be positioned to step in whenever that situation deteriorated.

Holtmann may have exceeded his preseason expectations this year, but he definitely hasn’t exceeded OSU’s overall expectations when they hired him four years ago. In four years he’s earned no banners and hasn’t made it out of the first weekend of the tournament. Even this year, “exceeding expectations” only meant finishing 5th in the conference and losing in the first round of the NCAAs.

Best outcome for people who hate Indiana

I’ll be shocked if this isn’t a train wreck

interesting reactions around the Indianaverse, a lot of “not my first choice but better than Moser.” Seems like they are opposed to all the good candidates
