Was the Matta thing ever confirmed? There’s been some really weird stuff thrown out there.
If true, bad look. Disorganized chaos.
If true. Remember, Michigan supposedly chased a lot of guys while they were actually just waiting on Harbaugh. And that article about the Juwan pursuit makes it clear that some rumored names weren’t candidates at all. Also, that some feelers are just feelers.
It’s fog of war right now.
Jeff Goodman may be wrong. Some high-level people were wrong in the Harbaugh search. But he’s something more than a gossip. You would hope that a journalist worth his salt would work to get that one right–a lot of people could be angry if you didn’t.
Hey, Holtmann said no which means he technically considered the job
I read somewhere, was it here(?), that Porter Moser was the guy, but they couldn’t announce it yet because Loyola is still playing. I have no clue, really, but I know I read that somewhere.
Gee this sounds like Bobby Hurley did with the Christophers.
CJ Wilcher and Trey McGowens are waaaaaay better than Caleb Christopher. Those two can at least play at the HM level.
Yeah, both of those guys are transferring from major programs and were actually both 4 stars on the composite. Caleb Christopher had no other offers from high majors, barely cracked the top 500 on 247, and literally had “Has chance to be role player with continued development” as the takeaway on his scouting report. Much much different from Nebraska IMO.
I don’t want to suggest that Goodman is saying stuff that’s flatly untrue, but that doesn’t mean that the level of interest suggested by his tweet is accurate. A garden-variety interest feeler that is sent to several coaches goes through a game of telephone and arrives in a tweet that people interpret meaning Indiana is going hard after Altmann. Which, maybe they were… or maybe they were checking with a dozen potential guys and it got leaked and sounds worse than it is. We’ve seen that with our searches.
Colin C liked UM. Someone posted an interview where he said that he transferred because of covid to be closer to home.
Yeah, and it may be in Holtmann’s interest to have people think he’s a hot commidity.
Porter Moser makes more sense than anyone else. I don’t know how deep they can go this year, but Moser deserves a hard look by every elite program who has a vacancy this year, more so for midwest schools.
This! Holtmann is in a weird spot in that he has excceded expectations but hasn’t done anything in the tournament which then gets people to point back to the reason he has exceeded expectations is because of questionable retention and roster management.
Crazy talk for OSU to move on but good play by Holtmann to keep his name out there.
never hurt to consider, although Boltzmann has one of the best job, low pressure and tons of resource.
If Moser could put together a winner two in the tournament without krutwig, it’s just an absolute no-brainer. If you really wanted to poke holes in moser’s resume, you point out that he’s done not much without krutwig.
But I rewatched the Matt loves ball highlights from the Illinois game and wow is that ever beautiful basketball. So many little wrinkles from that basic plan with krutwig in the high post.
I would assume that he will get players as talented as Krutwig if not more talented in a high major school.
The players around Krutwig are REALLY GOOD. The wings for Loyola are some of the best on or off-ball defenders. The PG is just a steady-competitor. There’s alot of good players on that team. I think of Porter Moser like a more defensive-minded Beilein. You can see the player development, the culture of his program, and the wins. He’s proven that he deserves a coaching job in the B1G or other midwest high-major school if he wants it.
Sure. Agree with these last two posts. I’m just saying it’s absolutely bulletproof if he had more to point to without krutwig. The fact that he’s done what he’s done with krudwig is plenty powerful, for sure.
Do you guys think Moser would have interest in Oklahoma?
Doubtful. Moser has consistently stated that he likes Chicago and wants his kids to grow up in the area.
