Didnāt Hoiberg fight COVID while coaching the 2020 BTT opening round? I remember him looking rather ill. Perhaps it was another ailment.
He just had the flu.
That was the night everything hit the fan I believe, including Rudy Gobert testing positive and the NBA shutting down the season. Flip the channel to the BTT and snot is just visibly dripping from Hoibergās nose and he was visually sick. That was surreal.
Insane to me that he wasnāt an easy first round pick. His floor was a good role player, and he has the upside to be an elite all around role player in the Draymond mold.
Still blows my mind they let him go out there and coach knowing he had a fever.
I was at the game. Indy looked like an zombie apocalypse the next day. All the signage and fanfare around the city, no fans.
Just the absolute consummate teammate. Every NBA team wishes they had one like him.
Variables outweigh measurables when you do everything with team and winning in mind.
Still remember him huffing and puffing to get down the court in HS. Incredible transformation by him to become a player.
With the strict testing procedures for the NCAA tournament why would a team who is comfortably in the field want to participate in their conference tournament?
Thatās the question that nobody is talking about right now but Iām guessing everyone will be talking about a month from now.
I suspect maybe thereās some part of āwe are putting it in Indianapolis so it is like starting the NCAA Tournament bubbleā from the Big Ten ā¦ but Iām not sure thereās any reason to buy that right now.
The best option would be to fly every team in the field to Taipei two weeks prior to tip-off and then hold the Tournament there.
Regarding conference tournaments, it would be nice for the mid- and low-major conferences if the regular season champions, i.e., the best teams, would all get in for a change. It would increase the chances of first round upsets.
Somehow Foster didnāt pick it up while partying out of town this weekend I guess, lol
So thatās 10 games cancelled that have yet to be rescheduled?
Yep, should be 10 now. Torvik has been marking games that have yet to rescheduled as occurring on April 1st, though he doesnāt have Min/Neb, Neb/Iowa, or MSU/Ill listed there at this time.
Update:
Michigan (6-1) - 3 contender games left, 1 loss outside
Iowa (6-1) - 4 contender games left, 1 loss outside
Wisconsin (5-2) - 5 contender games left, 1 loss outside
Illinois (5-3) - 4 contender games left, 3 losses outside
OSU loss was really crippling to Illinois. Wisconsin doesnāt have much margin for error.
Ohio State is also 5-3 but has 5 contender games left and I still canāt take them that seriously as a threat to win the conference.
How many games do the top teams have against the āmiddleā tier left? OSU, Purdue, Minnesota, Indiana.
If the league is won with 5 or 6 lossesā¦ I donāt really think anyone is dead yet.
MSU approaching herd immunity.
Good point RE: middle tier games,
Michigan has 4 remaining
Iowa has 4 remaining
Wisconsin has 2 remaining
Illinois has 3 remaining
I think any of the ātop 4ā could pull off a nice run to get to 15-5 and win it outright, but Illinois has a really rough path to get there.
I think if there were live odds on the B1G champion thereād be really good value on Illinois with 3 losses
