Yeah, though KP doesn’t have the Nebraska game included and when it is added I wonder if the cumulative probabilities effect will actually knock down their projection to 11-9. I’m far from a statistics guy, though.
What do you guys think of Wisconsin at Rutgers tomorrow? I feel like Wisconsin will probably have a bounce-back game, but I also think they might have been, and maybe still are, overrated. But I don’t know enough about Rutgers to know how those matchups will work.
The computers still like Wisconsin, but I’m not super sold. I agree that they’re probably not a top ten team, but man has Rutgers stunk it up lately. I think I have to pick Wiscy. It’s difficult not to be biased against the teams we’ve faced due to the teams we’ve faced performing how they have.
It would be a bummer if our signature win took another blow so soon, but I’m not too worried. Wisconsin’s defense is a terrible matchup for Rutgers.
Oh boy, we both picked Wisconsin. Now expecting a 99-50 Rutgers win.
Rutgers is so bad all of a sudden. Expect to see a lot of terrible midrange jumpers off the bounce by Baker, Young, Mathis, and Harper, Jr.
I’d also add that Wisconsin is surely smarting and eager to get off the mat. Rutgers is in full freefall and that’s a lot harder to course correct. If Wisconsin hangs around in the first ten minutes they can write off the Michigan game as a fluke whereas Rutgers will sink deeper into despair.
the above treads dangerously close to mixed metaphor territory but I’m leaving it
Umm Fife would be insane to not take that if offered. Indiana would be insane to offer it to Fife and their fan base would have a meltdown.
oh interesting, the IU fans in their reddit postgame thread are having a big collective cry that they missed their Fife window.
Looked like one or two guys. Idk. I guess he went to IU so the fans wouldn’t mind but that would not be an inspiring hire if you ask me. Which they won’t ask me. I’m probably holding his prior coaching gig against him too much since he was super young.
I can’t imagine he wouldn’t be interested. Heck I remember his brother trying to campaign for Michigan to consider him.
Do we agree that Archie’s days are numbered one way or another? Who is the likeliest replacement?
John Beilein
I assume that he will get another year unless there is a prefect replacement out there.
I am here for the bonfire on Archie Island. Who brought the glow sticks and techno music???
I don’t think he gets fired this year he has a 10 million dollar buyout as well. I know Indiana has high expectations but I don’t think they should necessarily give up on a 42 year old head coach. I don’t think Dayton was some fluke either. Maybe he’s better suited at not a major conference but I don’t believe he forgot how to coach.
As a Michigan fan, I’d be happy if Archie stayed there forever. We have had his number, absolutely owning them every time we play. If they fired Crean after his level of success, I can’t imagine that Archie’s seat wouldn’t be piping hot at this point. I can’t believe they signed him to such a coach-friendly deal. Buyout is still that large this deep into the tenure? Seems crazy
TIL that Archie Miller’s real name is Ryan.
His given name is “Ryan” but garnered the nickname “Archie” at an early age due to his personality being similar to that of Archie Bunker, the grouchy TV character, from All in the Family .[1]
I 100% can see this.
Rutgers surge from bad to very good offensively this year was mostly based on them all of a sudden becoming one of the most accurate 3 point teams in the country. As teams have started taking away those easy 3s, they have really struggled to create efficient offense.
Transition game is a huge part of it for Rutgers too, as I wrote about here. The Big Ten probably has the best collective group of transition defense in the country.
the odd thing this year is that the top 3 contenders at this junction only play each other once. all other teams can be spoilers
