I assume you are including the Illinois game in your “with Omoruyi split” and that’s why the numbers are different.
I think its fair to say that losing your starting center and the highest ranked recruit in program history has some defensive impact. Not the only thing at play but a bunch of extra minutes for Dean Reiber isn’t the path to a good defense.
Yeah, those pre season all conference lists with Baker or Hauser aren’t looking so great right now. Hauser is still a really good player but can’t be your best player and suffers from bad guard play around him.
I wonder how much of that is the Michigan specific websites like here and mgoblog using Kenpom a ton. A very high percentage of other team sites still use non-tempo free stats for everything in their previews.
Indiana of course has a great site too with Inside the Hall.
I believe a lot of credit for this can be attributed to Dylan and the UMHoops site. I have become more knowledgeable about basketball stats and metrics through reading Dylan’s write ups and comments from the membership. It hasn’t caused me to subscribe to KenPom, but I see how it could.
Big reason why a lot of the national writers got destroyed by um media bloggers and fans when they tried to push Ed Cooley is a great x and o coach down our throats.
Did people used to be less insane on RCMB? At Mgoblog, for that matter, or nationwide? I think I see so much more fruitcake posting than I used to. . .
I just have a feeling that Indiana/Nebrasketball may be closer than it should be. I came away impressed with Indiana against Wisconsin but not sure I’m ready to trust them playing well 2 games in a row.
