Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

because Torvik let’s you carve data better than KenPom…

Rutgers with Omoruyi this season: 18th offense, 44th defense
Rutgers since his injury: 83rd offense, 99th defense

Their team has imploded recently, but they were nowhere near a top 10 defense with Omoruyi.

I also hesitate to blame the starters drop in defensive efficiency on the court to the backup center being injured.

Rutgers tried to come back from the dead in the last 8 minutes or so but that’s the problem with going down 20+

I assume you are including the Illinois game in your “with Omoruyi split” and that’s why the numbers are different.

I think its fair to say that losing your starting center and the highest ranked recruit in program history has some defensive impact. Not the only thing at play but a bunch of extra minutes for Dean Reiber isn’t the path to a good defense.

Geo going 2/9, 0/4, 0/1 was probably the death stroke. At least offensively.

I missed this live, Sotos got injured:

Jimmy Sotos might have just had his left shoulder pop out. It's in a lot of pain on the floor, and he immediately called for the trainers.

Now they’re really in a bind at PG. Take the training wheels off Meechie (not advisable IMO) or move Washington to the 1.

Top 20 player in the country Geo Baker

Yeah, those pre season all conference lists with Baker or Hauser aren’t looking so great right now. Hauser is still a really good player but can’t be your best player and suffers from bad guard play around him.

Yet another reason to basically ignore anything Andy Katz says. Him going after Kobe King last season was pretty low.

Yup. Lost any respect for him after that.

By percentage of “committed” users, Michigan is the most popular team on KenPom:

I wonder how much of that is the Michigan specific websites like here and mgoblog using Kenpom a ton. A very high percentage of other team sites still use non-tempo free stats for everything in their previews.

Indiana of course has a great site too with Inside the Hall.

Seriously, does Loyer have terrible balance or something? I’ve never seen a guy just fall down on his own this much.

Yes, but where else would one learn about the best porn sites?

I believe a lot of credit for this can be attributed to Dylan and the UMHoops site. I have become more knowledgeable about basketball stats and metrics through reading Dylan’s write ups and comments from the membership. It hasn’t caused me to subscribe to KenPom, but I see how it could.

Big reason why a lot of the national writers got destroyed by um media bloggers and fans when they tried to push Ed Cooley is a great x and o coach down our throats.

Did people used to be less insane on RCMB? At Mgoblog, for that matter, or nationwide? I think I see so much more fruitcake posting than I used to. . .

I smell three B1G blowouts today. Morbidly curious to see Turgeon’s plan for Kofi

Both Gach. We need each of them to play well if they’re to have a chance to beat Iowa.

I just have a feeling that Indiana/Nebrasketball may be closer than it should be. I came away impressed with Indiana against Wisconsin but not sure I’m ready to trust them playing well 2 games in a row.
