Big Ten Basketball 2019-20 Discussion

Huh, I watched the first half off and on but totally missed that.

Don’t think I’d want to mess with Stevens, either!

I think Watkins got the T, but Stevens was in the middle of it.

Absolutely stunning that you would have said this at the beginning of the season. Purdue and Rutgers sure. But Maryland and Illinois I would have had a hard time believing. Maryland because I would have thought there offense would be much better and Illinois the same, but mostly that I wouldn’t have believed there defense would be carrying them.

Watching some of the IU-Rutgers game… I don’t understand how Indiana can play in today’s basketball with three guys on the court at the same time who can’t shoot at all (Justin Smith, Jackson-Davis, and Brunk). I guess their offensive strategy is just to draw fouls…

Good point. Most people shouldn’t mess with Stevens either but I think Oturu is a whole different level.

I’ll be watching the second round, er, matchup, that’s for sure

Speaking of IU, starting to feel like it’s getting late early for guys like Damezi Anderson and Jerome Hunter.

In that spirit, who would have expected that post-Beilein, we’d improve to the second best offense in the conference and that our defense would fall off a cliff?

(obv these metrics are early and will shift with a broader data set…)

Lunardi’s latest Bracketology has 12 teams from the Big Ten in the field. No points for guessing which two aren’t included.

I would be floored if 12 got in. I’m thinking 9 on Selection Sunday, or 10 if a “last four in” makes a cut. Eleven or twelve would kind of rock, though. Love rooting for the conference in the early rounds. Except OSU; just feels dirty.

Might as well just make the Big Ten Tournament the “Midwest Regional” and give the winner a one-way ticket to the final four

Torvik currently has MSU then Rutgers and Wisconsin tied for second as the current end-of-season standings projection. Rutgers is probably the best story in the Big Ten this year.

Agreed. The RAC has become a really difficult venue to play in—small… and very very loud. Additionally, this is a young team…could have sustaining success, at least for a few seasons.

IDK, it seems like the parity will drive more mid majors into the 64. I could be wrong but it’s always a crap shoot when everyone is bunched up. Better have good quality NONCON wins.

Are the rims at the Breslin extra tight? I don’t know what it is, but whenever I watch a game there, balls seem to clang off the rim more than they do at other venues

Is somebody out for Wisconsin? MSU’s defense is good but not 5/22 good.
