Big Ten Basketball 2019-20 Discussion

Florida looked better vs Xavier, but I wonder if Kerry Blackshear would’ve been better off without transferring!

For anyone who saw that MSU was up 20 at halftime and hasn’t checked back in, Anthony Edwards has 28 second half points and UGA is only down 4 with about three minutes left.

Now 7 with about 2:39 left. MSU ball. Game over probably

Edwards misses 3, Tillman hits 3, Edwards TO. Game over.

Bill Walton’s announcing career needs to be put out to pasture.

I for one love Bill Walton and will watch any game he announces

Oh god yes. He’s been brutal down the stretch here. Unlike Anthony Edwards.

Would have loved to see MSU lose again but that was quite the Thanksgiving appetizer! Feast week delivers! I thought every deep shot was going down from Edwards lol

I will tune into a pointless game I care nothing about simply because Walton is on the call. He’s not for everyone I suppose but I really think it makes the game more fun.

Yes, it’s funny how divisive he is. I love watching him announce games. The pac 12 hasn’t been so good the last few years and I have not much invested there so I love his antics in those games. Maybe in more serious matchups or Michigan games I’d pass.

Coming into the year I thought Michigan st was overrated. I didn’t want to come across as a bitter/ biased Michigan fan but it’s looking that way.

I still think they will improve once some of the young guys step up or develop but i didn’t nor do I think theyre a shoe in to win the big ten .

Also to triple post I’m seeing lots of posters thinking the big ten is looking mediocre. I don’t see it that way. I think there is 6-8 bids here with a bunch of high seeds by years end and I think the big ten basement is much tougher than given credit for.

Tourney team locks

Michigan st
Michigan
Indiana
Maryland
Ohio st
Purdue

Bubble:

Illinois
Wisconsin
Penn st ( looking solid)

That’s nine tough outs minimum and then Iowa is no gimmie and might figure it out and get to be a nice team. That’s ten solid squads.

Then the basement is tougher thEn years past. Rutgers is no longer a guaranteed w. As bad as northwestern opening loss was they handled a providence team that has talent and was a kenpom top thirty team to start Then they just destroyed Bradley who is a decent mid major team and a threat to win their conference.

Minny is a weak link but even they have a little talent. Curry got hurt again which basically destroyed they’re chance to do anything.

I actually would argue this could be one of the better big ten years in a long time mainly because the teams you use to be to chalk up wins against In the preseason are no longer laughing stocks. Illinois, penn st, Rutgers ect In fact Illinois and penn st are suddenly teams who could make the tourney.

Also in a wide open year mich state, Michigan, Purdue, Ohio st or Maryland could all make seriously deep runs if things fall into place. Three of those teams were just in the top ten.

I was expecting a big year from the conference and for it to be fighting for the number one conference and I think it could still do it. Hopefully we play to our potential and shock the nation and win Atlantis to get the ball rolling.

Top of the acc is way better.

Feels good to be on team “Greg Gard has not proven he can coach “

Agreed. It’s incredibly rare for a broadcaster to bring anything to the table besides shouting cliches. Even the guys with purported reps as “basketball minds” just say the same generic shlock (see Jay Bilas). Bill gives me something to enjoy. Perfect for watching two horrible Pac 12 teams derp around.

Brad Davison got another flop warning tonight, lol.

So, uh, Wisconsin…do they suck or are these just early season struggles?

Kinda leaning toward the former. Yes, they’ll shoot better than 2 of 25 like they did against UNM, but it seems like they have only 2-3 players who can at least semi-consistently score.

I love Walton too. Mist be a hard act to follow, cause nobody has.

I think they’re bad. Ball movement is incredibly slow. Almost no shot creators either. Reuvers is the only player on their team that has improved from what I can tell.
