Big Ten Basketball 2019-20 Discussion

Wisconsin on the ropes against Richmond.

Michigan lost the first game in Maui two years ago to LSU, had to play Chaminade in the second round and Virginia Commonwealth in the third round. We all remember how that season played out

Atlantic 10 has got to be a multi bid league this year. Some really really competitive teams.

B1G non conference has just about been worst case scenario.

Yea I love Sparty losing but the rest of the conference struggling isn’t great.

Truly truly believe Michigan gets 13+ conference wins this season.

Advantageous schedule, and mediocre league.

not bad situation for Juwan’s first year

The problem is that Big Ten games aren’t really going to be any easier, they just won’t count for as much.

nothing is easy but all winnable

It’s simply more fun when the B1G is raking (OSU & MSU possible exceptions, depending on hatred quotient.) Reality, though, is that it’s quickly becoming a 5- to 6-bid league if the middle sector doesn’t start stepping up. U-M, MSU, Maryland, OSU, and Purdue(?). PSU, Wiscy, Illinois potential bids? That said, U-M is 4-0 with a decent-if-not-mind-blowing win against Creighton. Chances are aplenty with the ACC/B1G challenge, but the league’s gotta cash in.

Edit: add Indiana to looking decent category.

Every other year…

2014: MSU is the trendy pick to win it all. Loses in Elite Eight.

2016: MSU is the trendy pick to win it all. Loses in first round.

2018: MSU is the trendy pick to win it all. Loses in the second round.

2020: MSU began the year #1. Final result?

I need a night in the next couple years where DDJ just absolutely embarrasses Foster Loyer for 40 minutes. Like shoves him in a locker and puts a 30-piece on his head

Nebrasketball is out here, keeping the conference afloat.

I have been here all damn summer saying MSU has as many questions as any, and only gets lift-off when they have senior role players, and only looks well coached when injuries disrupt Izzo’s original plan.

It’s a really weak year at the top.

Also, screw them.

How is it that kenpom.com still ranks MSU #1 overall after its 2nd loss of the season last night? They are still ranking MSU #1 on offense and #5 on defense.

I know some here think it’s bad for the conference, but any day where MSU and Wisconsin lose is a phenomenal day.

If hell was real and they had a basketball team, I would root for them over MSU and Wisconsin.

The rankings still consist primarily of preseason projections.
