Big Ten Basketball 2019-20 Discussion

not that we haven’t been trying

Michigan? Not sure about that considering they’ve recruited about 3 players in the transfer portal this year. Transfer U is clearly a Nebraska/Minnesota battle at this point in the league.

Wow, I feel like there are only 5 draftable players (Oturu, Ayo, Tillman, Jalen Smith, and Kofi). Others might make it, but I don’t see their names being called.

Sam Vecenie’s latest mock had Wesson in the 2nd round, plus Winston and Stevens. No Kofi and he has Ayo going back to school.

I overlooked Wesson, but still…if I’m an NBA GM (who values raw talent), I’d take Kofi over him. I’d probably rather have Livers than Wesson if I’m being honest, because I am certain his jumper will translate.

Whether Ayo comes back or not, I have no idea. But I love his game and would draft him over most of the B1G entries

I had a dream I went for 16 and 5 off the bench against Iowa. I was excited to hear the breakdown of my performance on the Moving Screen. Too bad I woke up. Or maybe good, Dylan probably would’ve outed my performance as a fluke against a terrible defense. However, BQ probably would praise my moxie and say this guy has some philly in him.

But would Quinn call you a “dude”?

What about Tilman and Henry?

He had Jalen Smith going late in the 1st, Oteru going 1st in the 2nd round, Winston and Tillman going back to back a few picks later. No mention of Henry, Kofi or Livers.

I agree about Ayo. Based on these mocks I think he’d have the most to gain by coming back to school. Didn’t sound like that’s likely though.

I feel like Garza would have to get drafted somewhere like in the late second round. I know his game doesn’t really resonate in the NBA, but there has to be a place at least on the bench for a guy with his scoring ability, plus he can actually shoot from 10-15 feet.

Dude, blah blah blah

I picture more of the September 2019 BQ, when talking about Rocket Watts: “This guy is gonna be a DUDE”.

Truth be told, that was what I was going for.

Weird.

Drew Peterson headed to USC instead of Minnesota (can you blame him?)

Maryland has found “a big” … good representation of the transfer market right now. Terps need a big and got a big but definitely not an exciting big.

Bohannon, Nunge Hardship Waiver Approved

Patrick McCaffery’s waiver is pending

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior guard Jordan Bohannon and sophomore forward Jack Nunge’s hardship waiver petitions have been approved by the Big Ten Conference. Freshman forward Patrick McCaffery’s hardship waiver is still under review.

Bohannon (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) played in 10 games in 2019-20 before undergoing season-ending hip (left) surgery in December; he had the same procedure successfully performed on his right hip last May. Bohannon averaged 8.8 points and 3.3 assists per game in the 10 games, helping Iowa record seven victories, including wins over Iowa State, No. 12 Texas Tech, Minnesota, and Syracuse.

The Marion, Iowa, native holds the Iowa record with 284 career 3-pointers made, breaking the school record in three seasons. He enters his final season as a Hawkeye with career totals of 1,310 points, 504, assists, 250 rebounds, and 82 steals.

Nunge (6-foot-11, 245 pounds) suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his right knee versus Cal Pol on Nov. 24. After redshirting his second year of eligibility (2018-19), Nunge saw action in only five games prior to the injury. He started all five contests, averaging six points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. Nunge was named Academic All-Big Ten on Monday, the second time in as many years that the accounting major has earned the academic recognition.

Bohannon and Nunge are the third and fourth Hawkeyes in three years to receive a hardship waiver (Connor McCaffery in 2018; Cordell Pemsl in 2019).

LOL wow you are right about Galin Smith. He is a big person that stands on a basketball court and is thus by definition a big basketball player. He doesn’t do much besides exist though.

And he absolutely wasn’t ever going to be MSU’s 2nd best player.
