Wisconsin, MSU, and Maryland are all going to win a share of the big then title…
I think MSU and Wisconsin will finish at 14 wins (but MSU has two trap type games). The question is whether Maryland goes 2-0 at Rutgers and vs Michigan.
Who else is Maryland going to lose to? Us? I hope so
I told you Dylan was a closet MSU fan. He has been hyping them up for weeks. He thinks they will win every game even though they have 9 losses despite being the favorite in every single game
Maryland played disgusting basketball. They didn’t deserve to win tonight.
I will literally root for Maryland to beat us if that means keeping a share of the title away from the bad guys. It won’t affect us too much either way.
I also don’t think MSU and Wisconsin both finish at 14 wins. I mean they’ll probably be favored every game, but chances are they’ll lose at least one.
Maybe. I just don’t like how any team that UW or MSU plays is playing right now other than OSU. And I don’t see Cassius losing on senior night at the Breslin.
At Rutgers
I’m at the Gonzaga vs Saint Mary’s game right now and I’m convinced we beat Gonzaga again.
Maryland maybe would have lost to Rutgers if they won tonight, but they are not going to lose to Rutgers after getting ran at home. Rutgers isn’t good.
If the final game comes down to this, I will be such a bitter asshole and I agree I will probably root for us to lose, especially if we happen to win tomorrow
Come on man, that is little brother logic - “better them lose than us win.” Root for Michigan in all cases. Who even remembers the regular season title, other than the team that won it?
Well I would say, in the case of basketball, they have a bit more of a case to call us “little brother,” so I’m just being petty. And to respond to your question: that’s exactly why I’d be rooting for Maryland; I don’t want MSU to be remembered as three-peat champions.
Also, a loss against Maryland seriously doesn’t affect us too much. In fact, I think there’s a better chance that it helps us get the 6 seed in the tourney, rather than the 5 seed, which has proven to be a worse spot to be if you’re trying to go far in the tourney. So there’s the petty side of the logic, and it helps that the game seriously doesn’t matter that much in terms of our tourney hopes (BTT and NCAA)
If it has consequences on the standings and program then yes I care. It’s not about one season. It affects future recruiting too. Easier to recruit against a non-three peat Big ten champ in the cases of Brooks and Akins and other recruits. No one cares if Michigan finishes 5th rather than 8th or whatever, but MSU winning the league rather than not might move the needle
I think you and 3 zebras will be in agreement. I expect a big free-throw discrepancy on senior night in State’s favor.
Y’all seriously would rather lose just so MSU doesn’t split the title 3 ways? Cmon.
Howard has demonstrated he’s gonna pull in great classes. MSU recruiting won’t have any significant impact on what we do.
This is great. There’s definitely a big difference between reading Brian’s stuff on MGoBlog vs reading Dylan’s stuff. You would never mistaken Brian to be anything but a Michigan fan, but Dylan is as objective as it gets and it brings a very needed perspective in such a crazy fandom.
Damn you Dylan for being objective on your podcast! Didn’t you realize March was coming?!??!
