I was just gonna say, Michigan had stunk for two decades and the University finally started caring about the basketball program not even 5 years ago as far as making a financial commitment. UM won’t be landing that type of kid for another 4 or 5 years assuming they keep up the pace they are at now.
Winning is paramount no doubt, but I would disagree that there are not talented kids that grew up wanting to attend Michigan.
Winning and/or NBA draft picks.
I know it had to burn for a lot of former recruits who were highly rated and turned down UM, only to see 3* UM players go above them in the draft and frankly, I see that continuing in the 2014,2015,2016 classes
We are gonna breakthrough eventually. I wonder who P.J. Dozier “grew up wanting to play for”? To many legacies and alumni tie-ins to not have some kind of connections available to be mined.
“Quote” rel=“chezaroo”>Winning is paramount no doubt, but I would disagree that there are not talented kids that grew up wanting to attend Michigan.
The Fab Five played before these kids were born. Michigan didn’t make the tournament for 10 straight seasons. The first three tourney appearances under Beilein were 1 or 2 game early exits. Mixed in there was another season of not making the tourney. We all know how far the program has come, but it’s really only been the last two years that we had real success in the tournament. Outside of a kid whose parents had ties to UofM, Which kids that are being recruited right now could have possibly “grown up” dreaming to play for Michigan? MattD is right, you need 5 + years of sustained tournament success before you are going to really be on the map with most kids and their parents. The fact that we are even in the discussion already with so many elite recruits is a testament to the recent success of the past three years of UofM Hoops and to the talent on our coaching staff.
ESPNU is showing LV Super64. Not sure what recruits are playing.
Kyle Guy on ESPNU
Purdue has added some serious shooters over the past few classes.
I’d assume we’re not pursuing a big in this class with real determination based on this:

2015 F Esa Ahmad likely making 2nd visit to #Buckeyes this wkd, per his dad. Still plans to announce late August after other visits. #buckbk

If Duke will indeed turn up the heat on Thornton, I think that's his destination. Battle purportedly likes Duke a lot, and he and DTJr want to play together.I wouldn’t be surprised if Leaf, Battle and Thronton all end up there.
Duke hasn’t recruited Thronton yet, Battle “purportedly likes Duke a lot”(I thought Battle’s dad loved Calipari), and Leaf was offered just yesterday, and all of a sudden Duke could land all three. K is a great recruiter, but you act like he snaps is fingers and recruits commit.
Hey guys … This thread was getting a little out of control. I broke three threads out separately to start:
2015 Guard and Wing Recruiting (Jalen Coleman, Eric Davis, Prince Ali, Kenny Williams, etc.)
2016 - Forward Recruiting (TJ Leaf, Seth Towns, Matt Moyer, etc.)
2016 Point Guard Recruiting (Derryck Thornton, Cassius Winston, Quentin Goodin, Jamal Murray, etc.)
Sorry for tweaking things (and I know this thread is popular), but it just becomes a lot easier to track things if we segment them a bit. Let me know if you have any other ideas, etc.
He’s only 15 years old and has only been playing basketball for three years; 2017 C Jeremiah Tilmon has coaches talking about what a great player he is now and anticipating just how good he can get over the next few year. Tilmon, who was on campus in June for Kansas team camp, was a wrestler before someone noticed that he was a head taller than the other kids his age and decided to put a basketball in his hands. Three years later, Tilmon stands 6’11" and is already considered to be one of the best big man prospects in 2017 class. Illinois and Kansas State have already offered Tilmon, but after his impressive showing in front of coaches from Kansas, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri and many more - his offer list is about to grow.
Check out Tilmon’s 2014 summer highlights and be sure to add him to your list of players to follow in 2017.
Looks like Brooks is heading to Brewster:
Reliable source tells HHC re: Dillon Brooks Findlay to Brewster switch "Told its not 100 percent yet w/Brooks. Likely though." #CdnBallers

Seth Dugan, Jon Teske, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Cook visiting before Italy. PJ Dozier, Derryck Thornton Jr and T.J. Leaf taking OVs after. Josh Langford was scheduled for a tentative August 2nd but before the 15th so hopefully get confirmation on that. Devearl Ramsey (team USA), Caleb Swanigan and Miles Bridges are also quoted as saying August visits were in mind but have my doubts. Get Kenny Williams, Jalen Coleman and Prince Ali to schedule OVs and that is a great start.
Penn St recruiting really well.
An unnamed source just told me Kenny Kaminski has been dismissed from the Michigan State basketball team.

Josh Langford, a five-star 2016 wing, took an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt today, per a source.

But, I thought that 2016 SG Rawle Alkins played really well on both ends of the floor today. Canadian PG Jalen Poyser has impressed as well

Jalen Poyser 6-4 (1996 birthdate) has been Canada's most impressive player by far (good change of direction) #adidasnations #grassroots

Jalen Poyser has been very impressive, I see him climbing back up the charts. He and Munis Tutu have been great for Canada in transition

Jalen Poyser showing nice ability to finish at the rim with traffic.

Biggest takeaway after two days at #adidasnations is the play of Jalen Poyser, 2015 point guard has been a standout.
— Eric Bossi (@ebosshoops) August 3, 2014
Liked what I saw from Jalen Poyser over these two games today, nice ability to finish at the rim, good athleticism. #adidasnations
