Announcement Primer: Josh Christopher

I mean he literally listed who told him he was going to Michigan. Maybe he shouldn’t have believed it, but I don’t think he’s doing much wrong

He did say his information was bad. He just also validated his sources were legit and he was flat-out lied to.

There are several possible explanations in the whole situation.

I didn’t want to believe it at first, but now I truly believe Josh knew he was going to ASU long ago. I think he allowed the Michigan hype and predictions to increase over time because he knew it would give him more attention and would result in a more surprising announcement.

This is probably why Kentucky got out way before all of this. If JohnMiller is telling the truth (and why wouldn’t he), then it’s ridiculous that his brother and cousin would both tell him he was 100% going to Michigan.

It’s possible Josh was going to come here, but had a sudden change of heart and kept it from his family. But I find that really hard to believe.

I grew a little disenchanted with the Christopher hoopla over time, so maybe am not hurting so much this morning. (You gotta protect yourself emotionally, friends!)

I AM eager for some conversation now about whether the PG situation is settled, though, and whether it’s well settled. Does Mike Smith become the man? At least it seems clear that he can distribute the ball?

Look forward now, gentlemen–this has already been way too consuming, IMO.

I don’t feel like it’s that hard to believe. The most likely is he decided in the last couple weeks no?

It seems pretty believable that he didn’t extend his decision date deep into into process because he was certain as to where he was going.

I’d tend to think PG is settled (some combination of Brooks/Smith), it’s the SG spot we’d be getting another body, if we do.

I think maybe even longer…especially considering how many times he went to watch his brother down the stretch last season. I think that was more than just to visit him

His father says he decided about a week ago and didn’t really tell anyone.

Very good chance his brother and cousin both thought he was going to Michigan because we were the favorite and they hadn’t heard anything else.

This seems more likely than accusing a kid and family of taking advantage of Michigan’s interest when he knew all along he would never go there.

There’s something about his tweet from last night thanking the Michigan fan base because they “made this thing so fun.” He may not have purposely spread the idea that he was coming to Michigan, but I think we can all agree that he didn’t handle his recruitment the best.

But hey, he has the world in his hands and he had fun with it. I can’t really blame the kid or be mad at it.

Why? What did he do wrong other than decide late? If he truly didn’t decide til last week I don’t see how he could have done anything wrong. He trolled people who follow recruiting too much which is funny imo

It’s a bad thing that he thanked Michigan and enjoyed interactions with fans on twitter?

I think it’s mostly just the timing of everything. It sucks he isn’t coming to Michigan and it sucks that it’s happened so late in the recruiting process and it sucks that Michigan was so convinced he was coming.

I didn’t post on here to call anyone liars. I posted because the information I was given was incorrect and that makes it look like I lied to a whole lot of people. I trusted and then repeated what I was told, that’s it. My bad if it was interpreted the way you made it sound.

The end of that article makes me laugh. His father didn’t know that ASU has never won the Pac-12 lol.

I like many of the guys individually, just don’t think it melds together into anything besides ‘meh’. To me if Michigan is gonna be really good Wagner has to develop into the B1G player of the year. I think he’ll be great, but just can’t assume that level. 3 of our 5 best players play the same position. Only 3 guys we can assume are above average defensively at this level. And 2 of them may have to play out of position where they are not above average defensively just so we can get our best guys on the floor.

You’re good. Literally everyone was deceived. This isn’t on recruiting analysts or ppl around recruiting. Christopher and his entourage seemed like they just wanted to have some fun, and you can make the determination how ethical that was.

I had spoken to his brother AND cousin on multiple occasions and how people can lie so easily is numbing
