It’s a grade two hamstring strain for Luka. That’s a pretty serious injury. Read the average time missed for a grade 2 hamstring strain is 35 days. If that’s the case, he very well could miss the 1st round of the playoffs and I don’t see the Lakers winning a series without him.
Detroit has officially clinched the east!
I’m watching Yaxels draft highlight reel, this is much more than a guy being 23
He’s a special talent. Normally when I project or think “ what I’d do if I was this team” i avoid guys his age too early but Yaxel is different
This guy is gonna be good in the NBA. I saw a projection to the Bucks and I can’t lie, a Yaxel, Freak, Turner front line is super intriguing and would work imo.
I think he’s gonna continue developing that 3 ball too. The guy is a tank man. The amount of crazy plays he made this year is nuts
I mean he’s Scottie Pippen
He’s ready to contribute right away and can slide in for any team. 6’9” who can do everything is such an asset. Stay away from OKC pls
Raise your hand if you knew EJ Liddell was getting starter minutes for the Nets.
Oh man, the karma is GOOD today, I like our chances tonight.
Only bad news is that the article is all quotes from Michael Reinsdorf, which suggests he and his dad haven’t been fired into the sun
I was checking to see if Arturas was on the Seton Hall team that lost to us in the title game but it looks like he joined the next season.
I’ve ripped Embiid before for his injury history but goddam, that is really unlucky
Embiid would probably would be a top-10 all-time C if he could stay healthy.

Id say I fall right about in the middle of the spectrum when it comes to basketball purists versus the stats nerds. And generally, I’m more annoyed by the purists.
That said this guy and his take on this entire ordeal is the worst. He “jokingly” trashes DeMar, doubles down after DeMar notices it by telling him he’s actually been a bad player throughout his career, then drops a 4 minute video today defending the entire thing.
So many things wrong with this. If you ever think that you and your ability to look at on/off splits are actually the arbiter of what is and isn’t impressive in NBA history… I promise you’re doing things very wrong. The durability, the consistency, and the ability to flat out put the ball in the basket (almost exclusively from 2’s!!!) can and should be celebrated. It’s also just not that complicated to see him in the top 10 and apply the proper context. Has happened in every sport.
I hate this guy who tweeted this is what I’m saying.
Ironically enough, the Celtics have been noticeably worse with Jaylen Brown on the court than off if you look at on/off this year (it’s actually happened a few times in his career). A lot of people think Brown is a top 5-8 MVP candidate this year bc he’s been awesome.
I’m not the one that should be lecturing people on analytics, but on/off has a lot of noise mostly due to rotations and who you play with, how good your backup or bench is, etc.
DeMar is definitely a flawed, but very talented, player that doesn’t quite fit the modern era perfectly but has always been billed as a great dude. He was a pleasure to have in San Antonio during his stint with the team and never complained about being on a middling team. I have a lot of respect for DeRozan and have a hard time looking at him being in the wrong in a situation like this
Right and that’s where DeMar as a guy does come into play here. I don’t think how upstanding of a dude he is should come into play when we’re talking about him solely as a basketball player.
However when you are talking TO him, there’s a level of respect you’d better have. Carson here gets to make a living off of talking about the game that DeMar makes possible through his tens of thousands of hours spent lifetime in the gym working. When given the chance to speak with him, rather than a matter of reverence for that, you choose to try and dunk on him to impress your buddies in the podcast space? Kick rocks.
Yeah, I think there is a line where you can be critical of a player’s game/career without making it personal. Idk what the original comment was bc I don’t have twitter/x any longer, but based on DeRozan’s reaction and the guy’s response I’d say that he probably crossed the line

This is what DeMar originally responded to.
Just wasn’t a smart thing to say to begin with. As I said, the context of why a guy as durable and consistent as DeMar ending up where he ends up on that list isn’t complicated.
It remains so frustrating to be an NBA fan who actually enjoys the NBA. So much time and energy is spent by the people who follow this league talking about why it is actually bad.
I know a lot of Raptor fans and DeRozan was very polarizing. Couldn’t get the Raptors over the hump but was used as the main piece to bring in Leonard to get a title. Demar then goes to win a playoff game with the Bulls in Toronto. As you said he’s been remarkably durable will turn 37 when the next year begins. Still playing 77 games a year and playing 30mpg is incredible.
