He’s a tough one to evaluate because he is responsible for bringing that talent in, and they are fairly consistent. But they can’t ever make a tourney breakthrough.
We’ve been fortunate with Beilein and it looks like Juwan is carrying the torch himself.

Never thought of Fran as a guy doing less with more. He builds great offenses but his teams are flawed. But they’re also not flush with talent generally

That is BRUTAL.
Meanwhile, no one did more than Iowa to get us out of the First Four and maybe into the tournament. Gave us a huge road win, and really helped us out by knocking off Rutgers and IU.
So many thanks to them.
His ability to develop talent really is impressive and I do feel bad, because I don’t really hate Iowa. It’s just so sad, my goodness

Timme is just behind Davison on my least likable players in college. Complains about everything. Flexes after everything. Travels all the time with moving pivot foots. Has a creeper moustache. Plays for gonzaga who cake walk their way to 1 seeds playing 5 tough games a year in non-conf in an otherwise garbage conference

One-time UM coach candidate Shaka Smart is getting crushed. Awful score for an 8-9 game.
But they are extremely talented, though. Keegan Murray is a legitimate star. Bohannon is a fantastic pure shooter; Patrick McCaffery is above average also. I was surprised that their backup big buy left; I think he could helped them quite a bit.
I’m not saying they’re the most talented team in the country, but certainly they’re one of the 16 most talented teams this year… and surely once or twice in the last twelve years too?

Watching UNC against VA Tech in the ACC tourney … UNC looked like a team that would never win another game again. They’re bizarre - either a house on fire or a wet mud puddle.
John Beilein absolutely devoured Shaka Smart’s soul. He hasn’t won a game in the tourney since that year and that was almost a decade ago.

But if it doesn’t serve to advance the team, who cares?
I get that upsets happen in a single-elimination tournament. But if you’ve taken 11 bites at the apple with no success, losing because you can’t play defense, wouldn’t you make some change before the twelfth?
They look good enough to compete with Tennessee. Scary.
