Yeah, you can make a serious case that the coaching is vastly overrated. I know it’s a bit early to anoint a guy like Shaheen Holloway. But a lot of the stuff he runs is better than the stuff I see from a lot of B10 coaches.
I think people try to find positive things to say about coaches because the player quality often leaves a lot to be desired. The networks that cover them know that the league is the most followed as a whole. Don’t want to piss off the fans, so they pump out rainbows and unicorns.

I love Mason Gillis. Did anyone else see him breakout into a dead sprint after that last TO to single handedly stop a fast break? Really wish BJJ could’ve been Gillis with probably less, but still useful, shooting (Gillis having a silly year from 3)

Houston was a tough matchup. . . . but I also feel like if Illinois had played to its potential all season (not just against Michigan!) they would have been a higher seed and gotten an easier draw. Even though they shared the league title, they seemed a little off all year.

Big Ten has had 15 lottery picks in the last 10 drafts - Leonard, Burke, Len, Zeller, Oladipo, Vonleh, Stauskas, Kaminsky, Russell, Valentine, Brides, Jackson, Langford, Smith, Wagner….not exactly a who’s who in the NBA. Jackson and Wagner look like they could be the best of the bunch. Russell and Oladipo solid players. Rest are role players or terrible.
29 in ACC in same time span. 15 from Big 12 (four fewer teams). 28 in SEC. 16 in PAC 12. Only 7 in Big East.

I’m thrilled we made a S16.
But, Sadly I think ended up with the worst draw. Nova and Zona are a killer regional for us. Every other region looks better to me at this point.

Don’t know who is coming out of top half of region yet but agree that Nova is going to be tough. Though they should have a tough time with Hunter when they’re on defense.
