Mason had some talent and often it showed, I agree
I don’t quite remember but was a Draymond a Poole like player in college. Was he this good?
He was a First Team All-American as a senior.
Yeah, led Spartans in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks
Figured to be at least a rotation player (think he went in the second round.) But I don’t think anyone realized Draymond would be such a game changer defensively.
I thiiiink when you do RAPM for CBB over Dray’s tenure at State, it turns out he was the most valuable player in the country.
Yeah Draymond as a senior was insane. KenPom POY, shot 3s well on decent volume, which is kind of funny in retrospect. And MSU was #2 on defense that year. Easily a top 5 player in conference over the last decade
I think the issue was probably conditioning and age.
When he came up in year 2 with GSW minus 60+ pounds, I knew he’d be a problem.
Not to mention that he’s a classic tweener in terms of his NBA position just on paper. Coming out of MSU he didn’t seem athletic enough to be an NBA wing but he wasn’t big enough to be a center. I don’t think most NBA GMs trusted that he could fit into their system…only to see him turn out to be able to play and defend multiple positions and have a huge impact on the game despite some of his obvious limitations. He’s really a unicorn as a player.
Practicing in football pads didnt get him in shape?
Maybe it made him think that he needed to be tackle sized?
You imagine if Draymond was actually the next coming of Lebron James but Izzo held him off from being able to shoot because he only had him practice bully ball?
I watched Green a number of times in HS at Saginaw. He could shoot.
While we’re on the topic, Xavier Tillman has been in and out of the lineup for the Grizz all year, but they’ve decided the best way to handle Towns is to not play Adams at all (3 minutes last two games) and roll with Tillman and Slo-Mo at center.
These games are so exciting. These crowds are so fun.
Herb Jones might be one of my favorite players in the league
Chris Paul is a surgeon. 2 turnovers in three games.
Is Delon Wright a starting caliber combo guard? Atlanta definitely seems better when he is playing. Plus defender, solid to plus ball handling (depends if you think he is a 1 or 2, I guess), has raised his shooting to adequate or maybe even a tick better. For sure would help the Pistons or the Wizards, for example.
I don’t tihnk he’s one of the 30 best pg’s in the NBA, no.
He is a plus defender. If the argument is “he’s an improvement on Killian Hayes”, sure, but so are 20 other PG’s. He also was a Piston - they traded him for Corey Joseph.
