2022 NBA Playoffs Open Thread

if only Denver had the opportunity to have a Jerami Grant on their team!

I’m pretty sympathetic to this argument. Say, for example, Denver offered an injured MPJ for Brad Beal earlier this year. I bet that might get done. You could quibble over giving up MPJ but you really can’t fart around during peak Nicola. Nuggets will never have a player like him again.

Jerami did turn down similar contract offer from Denver to play for Detroit because he wanted a bigger role that he wouldn’t have gotten at Denver

Yeah thats my gripe nuggets never sell big on young assets. They’ve been really good at getting young assets but done awful at managing them.

Why did we not let him run the offense?

Agreed that when you have a young superstar you are on the clock.

rhymes with Javier Simpson. Most teams won’t replace the PG that just led the team to the conference tournament title and NCAA finals.

We did when Simpson went to the bench, with mixed results. One of my favorite things Dylan ever did was, in the midst of that debate that year, to publish the numbers. Found that Poole got more pick and roll opportunities that year than sophomore Stauskas did.

Poole got sufficient opportunity based on his level of play. Let’s keep in mind when he went to the nba he was possibly the worst player in the league. So how he is now is not really relevant to what should have happened 4 years ago. I say this as a huge JP fan both then and now

Yeah, I was never one of his haters, but JPoole at Michigan and JPoole in 2022 are two entirely different people. Not in my wildest dreams could I imagine Poole being…this.

Poole was a young for his grade sophomore. Player development is a thing with age, strength, maturity.

Duncan had a little bit of a rough first half stretch - really had a hard time getting his shots off. Heat leaning more into Strus at the moment (who is a much better defender, marginally worse shooter). Duncan probably ends up 12-15 minutes tonight.

edit: nevermind, got 0 2nd half minutes, ends with 7

Minnesota/Memphis deserves better than NBA TV

Impressive win by the Pelicans. Booker left the game with an injury but McCollum and Ingram were unstoppable down the stretch.

As a suns fan I’m sick about Booker. I’m pretty convinced this was their year

Hope it’s nothing serious. They’ve been my favorite team to watch.

Celtics fans deserve no happiness in this life. Go Nets.

As much as I don’t like the Bulls, it’s nice to see two really good teams from the midwest playing against each other.

Joel is my favorite player and I liked what happened this evening

I imagine there’s not a much better feeling in the world than hitting a buzzer beater in an arena filled with people chanting F*** Embiid earlier in the game.
