I’m a Pistons fan. Saw the '87 horror. It truly felt like we might never win in that wretched building. Hate the damn Celtics. I always hated the Lakers more, but in my social circle now is a Boston sports fan of the worst kind. Everyone tolerates him because his wife is bubbly. He’s made it visceral again.
Which is a shame because put another uniform on them and what a likeable team. Even Smart isn’t as obnoxious anymore. He used to get by on gumption alone, but now is a real basketball player.
Lol. My father in law is a die hard Celtics fan (and any Boston team fan for that matter). My mother in law hates everything about that (and is a bills fan for that matter). So I can sense it’s a similar dynamic
This guy is so damn dull there’s nothing too entirely wrong with him. He just lacks the personality or curiosity in social situations to discuss anything other than his own interests. Known him for 3 years. We see him at the kids’ birthday parties, etc. The next time he asks me a question about me will be the first time. He doesn’t know what I do or where I’m from. Done making smalltalk with that forking guy. Will go talk with all the wives instead.
I feel badly for the Suns. This should’ve been their year. Feels like their ship has already sailed even though their core is very young.
I don’t have an NBA team, but I do live in Boston and seeing another championship parade would be pretty cool. At the moment, I’m probably rooting for the Warriors to take it home due to JP having the largest impact of any remaining UM player on their respective teams. Would be kind of funny to see another mavericks vs heat series though.
I like Smart. He’s made huge improvement as a pro and won his spot on the court. Wears his heart on his sleeve and tips. Hard for me to see the case against him.
Smart used to be awful. There was no case for him to be in the league apart from the refs letting it happen. I think he’s come a long way rounding out his skill set to include things that aren’t just gumption.
I wish TIMMAY was able to return. Dallas would be my clear choice then. I’m a huge Poole fan too but it seemed to me like the Warriors had a many bandwagon fans during their recent run as Lakers fans did. I have two good friends in the bay area who grew up Pistons fans but have flipped in the last decade (we did all like the Warriors during RunTMC, and Webber’s rookie year, but not more than Detroit). It hurts my heart:rofl:
Begrudgingly, I think I’m rooting for them too. Boston’s really the only team who was a huge rival of Detroit, but I like Jaylen Brown.
I just hope that every series goes 7 the rest of the way, and a Wolverine plays some role in their team’s success. If it’s the Warriors, I want JP to be the MVP.
I’d like to see the Heat take it, given our Michigan connection. I have no problem with the Warriors winning. The least-hateable dynasty, IMO. Fine with Dallas as well. I like each and every individual Boston player except for Smart, who I no longer dislike, and really admire the way the roster is setup. But they are the Celtics.
I am going with either the Heat or the Warriors. Can’t root for Boston under any circumstances and Dallas’ owner Mark Cuban would be insufferable for the next decade.
