I can see the Cavaliers or Pistons making promises.
That seems to be the knock on him.
Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan, Michigan
SI Big Board ranking: Diabateā62, Houstanā64
Michigan already got its biggest news of the offseason when it got Hunter Dickinson back for a third season with the Wolverines, but these two lingering decisions could determine how serious a contender Juwan Howardās team ends up being in the Big Ten title race. Diabate has elite physical tools and showed flashes of brilliance in his freshman season, and he has significant breakout potential should he come back for a second year in Ann Arbor. Meanwhile, Houstan had a rather disappointing season despite averaging more than 10 points per game. Still, with great size and an excellent stroke from beyond the arc, thereās still upside to be tapped into with him. Either or both returning to school would be a boost for Howardās bunch. Houstan turning downa trip to the NBA combine seems like bad news for Michiganās hopes of bringing him back, though.
MD still very borderline. Could you imagine if Diabate came back? I know that would be a positive for team talent but man, it just sounds so awkward from a ball handling and shooting perspective to run out a Dickinson-Diabate-Twill front court. To be fair, I suppose thatās not noticeably worse than Dickinson-Diabate-Houston (although TWill was much lower volume shooter in his limited minutes, have to think that changes as the starter). Probably unlikely to have MD back, I know. Iām just noodling around.
This is a pretty hot take. Curious what you see as his primary way of creating consistent advantages?
Man, wringing hands over Diabate coming back when, short of Malachi Smith, heās arguably the most talented individual we could get out of the portal is a bit much. Iād be ecstatic to have Moussa back and to see his improvement.
My first comment was he would elevate team talent! I would like to see it, but itās been clunky. Look I watched the Mavs Phx game last night. It was amazing ball. Hunter-Diabate aināt doing much for me right now. But gimme some time.
ooh Pacers would be a good place for Moussa to develop.
Is that the first public thing heās said since he entered the draft?
Have not viewed anything else.
Sorry for the multiple posts. Not sure what happened there. I once considered myself a OAD on the computer. Now, Id be lucky to get a 2 way deal.
Itās pretty interesting. Diabate says what he hopes for most out of this experience is āgetting great feedbackā and āto see how far I can go, and how well I can compete against great playersā. He doesnāt mention getting drafted.
i noticed that too, but then my brain immediately said āthese guys are extremely coached on what answers to give, and when asked about goals theyāre probably specifically told to mention wanting feedback rather than wanting to be drafted because it indicates strength of character or somethingā
āInstantlyā was not the right word. 18-22 PPG is usually a year two thing for even the best rookies. But mostly I just buy him as a 6ā8ā shooter you canāt give an inch of space to. Think he has a good post game too and will have some turnaround ability, but mostly heās just a very smart residual secondary guy that with extra space at the next level will capitalize playing off primary scorers and will be a prolific shooter from outside at that size.
Canāt find the broadcast info, but would love to tune in for Eli Brooks.
Eli, Gabe Brown, and Jalen Wilson on the same team is interesting.
Anyone know where the G League combine is being streamed/aired?
I want to say it was on Twitch last year, but donāt see any mention of it this year. Would be a bummer if itās not broadcast this year.
The PR release has a graphic that says itāll be streaming on Twitch w no further detail that I can see
