2022 NBA Draft Discussion

Probably year to year - if he somehow improves his lateral movement/defense and shoots 40% from 3, I’m sure he’s gone. If it’s the same next year, he’ll probably be facing the same decision (guaranteed a bunch of money or taking a shot as an undrafted free agent).

The word “we” is doing a lot of work here. Hopefully not referring to Juwan. He couldn’t do anything about TSJ. And suggesting that he should’ve done something to prevent Moussa or Caleb from staying in the draft is kinda gross (we rag on Izzo for this all the time).

But if you’re referring to Michigan as an institution, I agree with that. Get off our silly high horses and give all the monies to the good players please. I won’t love my own UM degree any less, I promise.

I need to clarify. We as in the institution as a whole. Terrence should be a Wolverine and coach, I believe did everything he could. Michigan, as an institution, needs to prioritize sports more, IMO. Glad you pointed that out, sir.

He coulda “misplaced” $25,000 or whatever Texas Tech regular student admissions costs…

For those doubting that Caleb got a promise I would remind you the Kings still exist.

Not shocking that Hunter came back. He’s not draftable by NBA standards. No one wants a post big who is a defensive liability due to lack of mobility.

Ahhhh just another good old off-season doomsday

This one is likely real though.

I mean, when I heard he got a combine invite I already made peace with the fact he’d be gone haha

We should go after some portal Freshmen that we think can make a big leap in their second year. Not having Houstan next year sucks but I can’t begrudge someone for being drafted. I do believe we still have a chance of improving this team. If we lose Caleb but gain, say, a similar level defender, we could be a different team that might end up being good.

But that adds more uncertainty.

Are there any stud freshman that are in the portal?

It might be better to just be an old team ( add two grad transfers (a little more body of work to add some clarity once Diabate leaves as well).

Not saying we shouldn’t (and it obv depends on who you can get) but good luck keeping guys like Barnes and Bufkin if you go that route. At least with a grad guy, they can buy it’s only one year.

I liked it better when “it’s ok we are likely working in the portal” was what Michigan State fans told themselves to cope, not vice versa :frowning:

Considering we already got one, heavily recruited another, and got 3 transfers the last 2 years I’m not really concerned with coping or settling

Perhaps Juwan will put all his chips in the Isaiah Barnes basket but it’d go against his priors

Correct me if I’m wrong but Malachi Smith is not on either combine list right? So safe to assume he is most likely returning to college?

Juwan can make a pretty great pitch to him on coming to UM and developing into a pro based on the success of other wings …Caleb, Franz, Livers, Chaundee even.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Makes no sense. Any team would want to see him work out, at least. Why promise him anything this far from the draft?

You don’t think hes done private workouts with teams?

Could be. IDK. Still seems early for a team to want to make that promise.
