2022 NBA Draft Discussion

I’m curious how much weight Chet plans to add. I’m guessing he’ll never be super strong but he’ll need to put on some to survive the grind of the NBA.

There’s a hilarious video of him talking about that block:

No Caleb, Moussa, and Hunter in top 30.

I know this discussion turns into a s-tshow every year, but with NIL and each of their skill sets, all three of these guys should come back.
Mousa needs a jumper
Hunter can clean up on endorsements and look forward to the Luka Garza career
Caleb needs, well, everything

Moussa needs more reps reading the game, primarily on defense. His athletic capabilities are way ahead of his production on the defensive end. That may be better suited at the college level where his athletic capabilities give him a buffer.

It will be interesting to see if NIL encourages guys to stay in college. They will all test the waters and it’s possible some team see something they like. At the end of the day they draft on potential not just results in college.

The only thing Caleb needs is to play every game at home. He’s a first round talent in that case.

Hunter already tested the waters, can he do it again?

Yeah, there’s no more limit on that.

Hunter is going to be a steal and catch on somewhere . The team just needs to be the right fit and understand what theyre drafting.

I project a long successful career ( even if it’s off the bench offensive big role).

I also predict he becomes a solid 3 ball shooter within the next 3-4 years.

Looked like he was on his way this year but he’s cooled off. He had the touch though and will figure it out.

Is there a current NBA big you would compare Hunter to? The obvious concerns are his speed and athleticism at the next level.

ESPN just updated their top 100, houstan 50, diabate 58 and no one else listed

He’s the C- version of Domantis Sabonis. Relatively similar offensively, but Hunter is even slower/worse on D, which is saying a lot when comparing to Sabonis.

So, since Sobonis makes an average of $18.750 Million per year and Hunter is comparable to him, I guess you’re saying there really is no decision for Hunter. If someone wants to pay him that kind of, in my opinion, insane money, he really needs to take that money and run, even if it’s "only half or two thirds what Sobonis is paid.

I have another editorial comment about the NBA, NFL too, for that matter, that I’ve made from time to time elsewhere but I won’t make it here with so many NBA fans on the forum. Let me just say I am a COLLEGE basketball fan and not an NBA fan. Peace, and please don’t come after me. You’re not gonna change my mind.:slightly_smiling_face:

They have a comparable style of game, but I said Hunter is the C- version of Sabonis. I love him at Michigan, but he will be a defensive disaster in the NBA.

NBA Draft Room compares Hunter to Boban Marjanovic, who is a career 9 MPG, 6 PPG, 4 RPG player.

I don’t see Hunter as a capable NBA player. Luka Garza is way more skilled than Hunter in my opinion and I don’t think even he will ever be a regular NBA contributor.

Uhh, yeah. Domantas Sabonis is a borderline all star every year (having made it twice).

The problem with Hunter is he was born in the wrong era. In the 90’s, he’s looking like a first round pick (think Bryant Reeves). The style of NBA play has changed so significantly since then. It’s so much more guard/wing oriented.

My advice to Hunter - take that NIL money, buy a Delorean with a flux capacitor and zoom right to the mid 90s.

Freshman Hunter outplayed Senior Garza last year H2H… though he then regressed this year on defense, IMO. But in any event, I don’t think it’s reasonable to say that Hunter’s NBA ceiling is equivalent to Garza’s.

I’ve previously compared him to a poor man’s Marc Gasol. Still think that comp has held up.

I think old Marc Gasol is the kind of game he’ll have to emulate. Will have to get A LOT stronger so he can efficiently score at the hoop and more consistent as a shooter. On defense, he’ll need the strength so he can wall up.
