Indiana is absolutely a blue blood and I will die on this hill. They just need one successful season and the entire media will be at their heels.
Ahoy.
Am I the only one who likes this class? Is it last year good, probably not but I like a lot if these guys , particularly the top 3 but I see talent deep into the first.
I think the second tier of the lottery is stronger this year than last. But last year it was pretty weak⌠that was the perception anyway. In retrospect the year one success of Scottie Barnes and especially Franz Wagner make last yearâs âsecond tierâ look a lot better.
Last yearâs second tier has actually turned out to be really good, especially if we are counting tier 2 as starting after Cade, Green and Mobley (the consensus top 3). Barnes, Giddey, Franz, Kuminga, Suggs, Mitchell and Duarte have all been solid to good as well. Even Kispert has had a few 20 point games. Strong lottery overall last year.
even guys who went late such as Cam Thomas, or in the second round such Ayo have been very good
Not good BobâŚ
Are you confident with Frankie running a halfcourt offense? I like Frankie in the open court some transition offense. I am not confident with Frankie playing 25-30 mins and running the offense at this time. In the halfcourt his defender can sag and dare him to shoot.
âAt this timeâ, of course not. Nobodyâs talking about right nowâŚ
I bet Frankie gets a lot better at running the offense â frosh>soph leap â but even Zâs shot was further along, and heâs going to have a challenge there. Doorâs open for Dug if heâs ready fast. Not opposed to a transfer.
Iâd say he certainly looked like a lottery selection when Ohio State beat us!
No doubt, last yearâs class has proven to be strong but it wasnât thought to be especially good before the draft. If you only consider playersâ draft profile/perception as prospects, I think the consensus says this yearâs second tier (after Chet, Jabari, Paolo) has better quality and depth with players like Ivey, Davis, Murray, Mathurin, and Griffin (plus potentially Sharpe, Duren and others you may argue for).
So many good topics being discussed in this thread today! I canât believe I had to actually work all day and couldnât catch up on it or contribute. As soon as I get a few minutes away from work Iâm going to share my thoughts. I still donât get the trevion Williams hype from the NBA unless theyâre projecting that he learns to dribble or shoot as a power forward.
year last yearâs draft was pretty stellar. great depth, maybe only one guy that can be a superstar but lots of potential AS level players. This year is lacking that Ayo level depth. Ayo would be an easy lotto pick this year
I thought he should have been at least in the back half of the first round last year. I never understood why he dropped and I feel a little validated with his performance so far as a rookie.
Not sure Iâve seen that consensus, and Iâd definitely disagree with it if that is the consensus. The second tier of Barnes, Suggs, Giddey, Kuminga, Franz > those names you listed IMO
I think the consensus is the opposite⌠there are 3-4 really good players and then a huge drop off.
Edey, Davis, Murray and even Iveyâs roles were relatively minor last year. Players will emerge, as they almost always do.
I really like Griffin, Duren, and Mathurin.
Idk. When I was looking at some guys in the 20âs I saw solid picks and contributors.
Iâve felt like the nba draft has had really nice depth for pretty much the last 4-5 years. Are players getting better and more skilled?
I felt like in the late 90s and 2000s the late firsts/ second rounds seemed like wastelands but now there always seems like there is high upside picks deep into the draft.
As a Pistons fan, the top talent fits their needs. A lot of PFs (Paolo, Chet, Jabari, Keegan) and Wings (Ivey, Davis, Sharpe)
Itâs weak on PGs this year.
