Then of course welcome back Hunter next year.
I think the idea is probably that Trevion has an NBA caliber talent (passing) but ask @eric_shap because he was touting his NBA ability to be recently.
I think if Hunter has similar performance to the Indiana game, he will definitely catch some attention. The idea of a big that can shoot in the midrange, from beyond the arc, and can pass is a pretty savory prospect. And itās not as if heās a garbage defender in college like Garza was, so he doesnāt project to be some abject disaster on the end. I think heās got a shot if the Indiana game wasnāt purely a one-off.
And if we get some form of Indiana game Hunter the rest of the year that bodes really well for our chances.
At this pointā¦I know he doesnāt want to, but itās a definite possibility that he could make more money coming back. But who knows.
Luka Garza in the NBA. Dickinson will play a long time in the NBA.
Dickinson long range shooting is just getting tapped into. Knows the game. Excellent and willing passer. Excellent touch in the post. Big body. Now that I think about it, heās basically Terry Mills in college.
If you want to know a big part of why Dickinson isnāt viewed as a draftable prospect, watch back his defense in space against MSU.
it stinks he seems so set on the draft
So why does Michigan keep putting him in that position? If itās to showcase him for NBA teamsā¦itās not working.
Is it just me or has he regressed since last year? This version of him is what I expected but he exceeded those expectations last year.
I honestly donāt know. But for someone who is slow-footed in space, making him get up to or above the level of screens doesnāt make much sense to me. They even late switched some in the second halfā¦ did not go well either.
Hunter is still really really good and definitely hasnāt regressed, but weāre just in an era where centers donāt win you games and it really boils down to wing and guard play especially. Hence why we arenāt great this year and why hunterās draft position is undrafted. The NBA is all about rim protection, length, and versatility none of which Hunter has.
Exactly and Hunter is a great college player. Just not a NBA player because of defense. If itās in the 90s, he would be an easy 1st round pick.
Hunter didnāt block many shots last years but is still huge for college and was a good run protector last year. The hard hedge is not allowing him to be this year.
I just read an NBA article on TheRinger.com about how Ayo was the steal of the draft this past year. I was someone who never understood why he fell to the second round because he always seemed like an NBA guard. He tended to be right-hand dominant and was streaky as a shooter, but his college performance was always impressive. I never understood the negative draft grades.
Now this year in the B10 we have similar types of players in Ivey, Murray, Davis, etc. getting much more NBA hype for their performances. Iām not much of an NBA guy, but wondered if anyone had an idea of why that has been different this year or if Ayo was just a unique case. Also wondering if thereās any impact to other B10 players with future NBA aspirations like Houstan, McGowens, Christie, etc.
Guys like Ivey and Davis can get their own bucket which helps. Ivey is an athletic freak, Davis is terrific in open court and turn it from one end to the next real quick. Keegan Murray is a bit different imo heās taller and bulkier than Ivey/Davis. Murray I can see being a difference maker defensively as well, long wingspan as well. I havenāt been that impressed by Christie for the most part.
I think Ayo was very similar to Iveyāno more streaky or right-hand dominant. But then again, Iām not quite the Ivey booster many are.
Ayo was really athletic-for college. Ivy is in the top 1% of NBA athletes. I would compare him to a guard version of Ja Morant, a player without any of the passing vision of the latter.
Sam Vecenie put out a new mock draft today. Interesting note he threw in that could apply to Houstan and Diabate:
Because fewer upperclassmen have emerged as interesting NBA prospects, this is potentially shaping up to be the year of the āpre-draft,ā a concept where teams try to persuade players to come out a year before theyāre realistically ready and at the highest point of their stock in order to get a higher-upside swing value-wise on their pick ā hoping to get a discount on a valuable player.
He also has Liddell in the late first which is much higher than Iāve seen him. Vecenie is an OSU guy so it makes sense just in that heās likely watched all of his games
