will brad underwood get angry at sister Jean?
Even if Loyola wins, theyâll have only played 30 games while Illinois will have played 31. I think Illinois will hang a Sweet 16 banner.
Good read. Might be a bit conspiracy theory-ish of me, but I do wonder with Livers being so outspoken if we may see some less-than-favorable officiating along the way. âEncouragedâ by the NCAA of course.
Although one could argue if we are getting hosed by the refs it wonât look any different than about a half dozen of our games this year.
I think these dates were already planned, but there was a chance our bracket would have to swap if BYU had made the sweet 16. NCAA luckily avoids it.
There is no ref conspiracy.
they conspire to be bad at their job occasionally

It was absolutely painful having to watch that Texas / Abilene game. Just horrible basketball. At least Abilene had the excuse of not having full-sized athletes available to it. Shakaâs team has no excuse, and it just reminds me how lucky we are to have Juwan instead of who we might have had instead. Letâs get working on that extension that makes him a top-five paid coach in the country, AD.
Loyola was disrespected with their seeding, imo. I am always suspicious the selection committee looks for narratives. It is a David versus Goliath game. It would be so awesome if things go Loyolaâs way!
There isnât an NCAA employee/board member/officer who isnât holding their breath, crossing their fingers, clenching & unclenching every body part that can clench, and hoping/praying they get through the next 31 games. Plus they all would prefer that the 1-2-3-4 seeded teams advance because it proves their selection committee knew what it were doing, and more importantly, TV ratings will likely be higher. (Maybe, just maybe, theyâll pull for Sister Jeanâs team to pull an upset or two.)
I am not sure what the timeline looks like, but I am afraid that LSU may have two shots at us. First is the game and second is COID showing up on their team after the game and shutting us down for our Sweet 16 game.
Iâll avoid sullying Dylanâs preview with this, but. . . itâs good guys v bad guys tomorrow. To blazes with Will Wade:
We are in the East correct?
Thatâs correct.
Nice. That means I have a 1/4 chance of having already bought tix for the Michigan game. Letâs just hope we get there!
The selection committee barely has time to figure out who should be in the tournament. Then, they rush through seeding, applying the bracketing rules and trying not to screw things up too badly (like, say, putting BYU in a situation where theyâd have to play on Sunday).
They absolutely do not sit around and try to project what matchups might be in the later rounds. Heck, millions of Americans couldnât get the first round picked correctly (0 perfect brackets); what makes you think the tournament committee can?
I could see them planning the first weekend. For rounds beyond this, yeah, they probably donât do that, but the first weekend itâs doable. It didnât take too much imagination to think both Illinois and Loyola would advance one round.
Was it a coincidence that we were in the same subregional as ND in 2016, or Louisville in 2017? I donât know.
Krutwig > Kofi!
Looks like nikola Jokic suited up for Loyola
