2021 NCAA Tournament Open Thread

This game is about 80% as funny as Texas-Abilene … which is pretty hysterical.

Ugh … Arkansas needed 2 more minutes of good play.

I always thought there was one of the Auburn Tennessee Memphis tribe in the mix.

AND, for those who don’t know, BigBoutros has a Top Secret security clearance so he has information that is WAY above the classified level!

Wow this game almost looks like a game now. That always seems to happen when I turn a game off early

My back of the envelope has Baylor with 46 points on ~35 possessions for a 1.31, sound about right? Arkansas slots at a good-but-not-good-enough 1.09 by that calculation.

If we’re looking ahead, I would like our post matchup, and our guys are good at defending 3s, but… they’re really good at shooting 3s. And athleticism everywhere, which Illinois kind of exposed us with.

Yeah, I get about 35 possessions also.

Ah, that’s coaching. “It’s all up to him. He’s got to get himself going.”

Jim Harrick was a guest speaker at a summer basketball camp I was at in the late-80s. He’d just taken the UCLA coaching job after being at Pepperdine. Turned me into a secondary UCLA fan, after Michigan of course. That 95 team was fun to watch, I loved Ed O’Bannon’s left-handed rise up 3-point J that had zero arc, and would just go straight down with the force of a dunk.

We’re on pace for 40 second half fouls. This game could go on ‘til 2 AM.

Can’t give up on Arkansas. They don’t get going until they’re down double digits.

Omg. Notae fouls out with over 13 minutes left

The officials have slowed their pace. Now only on pace for 33 fouls this half.

3 fouls in like a minute of game play too. Absolutely wild

Mitchell has that Rumeal strength. Dude is a load

Ok, maybe Muss is a galaxy brain genius using up 4 timeouts in the first half, but shouldn’t he have kept track on his guy having 4 fouls?

I’m sure he’ll say that the player’s supposed to know how many fouls he has.

He has a more compact, efficient fighting force now.

Illinois and Arkansas appear to be the the best Ds Baylor has faced, 9 & 10 in kenpom. Not much trouble with either (back-of-the-envelope suggests a 1.21 for the game against Illinois).

Gonna be honest, I like how we match up against Gonzaga better than Baylor. Haven’t looked at USC too closely, but maybe even them, too. I like Hunter against Timme better than Mobley.
