No mention of Juwan calling him Dickerson??
I love how in the interview, that two of the analyst’s alumni are teams that we beat to go to the Sweet 16. The Men beat Shaq’s LSU and the Women beat Candace Parker’s Tennessee.
The Kings got screwed big time. They were the best team in the Western Conference and so much fun to watch. That altered the franchise trajectory and they were never the same again.
Don’t forget that Shaq’s son, Shareef, is on that team but he was injured with a stress fracture. He had bad luck with health but thankfully, his heart condition was detected and was able to correct it.
I was a huge Kings fan back in the day. They were by far the most fun NBA team to watch with the way they shared the basketball and played with a little flair. I know J-Will started the rise, but I really thought they were going to win a title with Bibby. They had bigs that could pass (Webber, Divac, and later Brad Miller), they had tough guards (Bibby, Christie, Bobby Jackson), solid wing in Turkoglu, they had elite shooting with Peja. That Horry 3 was such a backbreaker. They should’ve won the title that year.
The collection of talent were a perfect fit. They all can pass and score. You have C-Webb, Divac passing from the high-low. Peja as a shooting threat. Bibby who can score and pass. Christie is a defensive guy. Bobby Jackson is a microwave guy. Turkolgu can handle and distribute. Pollard is a banger/enforcer for the team. It’s a shame that they got screwed out of a finals appearance.
Many folks seem to forget that the Kings had Olivier Sr. Jean, who had joined the Wolverines from France after Webber left. Olivier was known later as Abdul Wahad, who was a major contributor. I think Wahad and Webber overlapped for 2 years…
I was thinking “wow, if I’m as nervous as I am right now I can’t imagine how Brooks must feel” as he was shooting free throws to ice the LSU game after that super long timeout. Hearing someone like Candace Parker say that it’s way more nerve racking to watch as a fan is really interesting.
It’s hard to make out individual plays in the KenPom win probability graph. During the last 30 seconds, FSU’s win probability dropped from 8.5% to 4.2% to 1.0%.
Crazier things have definitely happened.
Yes, but the media narrative after that game focused so much on it like he blew the game. 8% chance is enough of a chance to make it worth fouling. But it doesn’t change my mind that the whole thing was overblown. That wasn’t why they lost but it was given outsized importance after the game.
It makes sense. These guys are doing intense physical activity out there and I think that clears your mind. Your focus narrows on the immediate task at hand - get a basket/stop. And as players they have some control over the outcome.
But for the rest of us sitting and watching, we have all this nervous energy that we can’t do anything about. And we have to hope the team gets it done.
You don’t ride a stationary bike while you watch? When Eli was at the line, my heart rate was at 170 and I was working on my third sweat towel. Only way to watch. I know I’m not the only one.
Agreed, it definitely wasn’t the primary reason that FSU lost.
Here’s hoping Michigan has a larger lead at the end of the game Sunday so this doesn’t happen again.
mindblown GIF. Getting a bike NOW
The real preview that we need. Zoo footage from Hunter Dickinson
Well, in the same discussion Webber structured a question as follows: ``I know what you are looking for in recruits so let me ask you ‘What are you looking for in recruits?’"
Full sentences are hard IRL, not to mention on the air…
Hunter is a cross of Eminem and Mr. Bean. Funny…
I am glad LSU didn’t have a big man like Naz Reid still in the program. He was a real good player.
I’m gonna need Sandman to put his mask on for two more weeks.
