2020 Recruiting Notes

I’m assuming so if Evans mentioned Michigan as one of the 3 schools he is most likely to land at. He wouldn’t just name drop them if he didn’t have someone somewhat close to Walker Inform him of who was talking to him. I’d love to add him. He could play anywhere across the backcourt. He’s a jumbo sized slasher/playmaker who is physical and athletic. And he’s at his best creating for himself and others. On paper he would be a big time boost to the offense assisting Xavier in creating for others.

Why are the bluebloods staying away? This may feel a bit like the Todd thing, which won’t be a bad thing for Michigan even if he doesn’t come, but still.

Good question.

Not sure which programs still have remaining scholarship room this season…if he’s made it clear he wants to join a program mid-season, that may be limiting some blueblood options?

Duke and Kentucky almost always have room…and rarely use all 13 scholarships. They’d have room if they wanted him.

The article makes it sound like his scholarship issue would be complicated (he’d want to come in this academic year), which could mean some people just can’t take him.

I haven’t been keeping track, but it also sounds like his high school season is a bit weird right now.

Could be a grad transfer to keep an eye on. If not for Michigan than other Big Ten teams.

Yep. Towns basically had to grad transfer (graduate students can’t play in the Ivy) so this isn’t really a big surprise. OSU is the home town school and would make a lot of sense. He has two years to play.

Snow, not that I’m a fan of his at all, dosent think OSU will go for Towns given that they’re already one over and won’t know about space until after Towns decides.

Looking forward to the all PF/SF offense next year

Yeah. Towns doesn’t feel like a great fit here now. Don’t think it makes sense for either side.

Um, wow. That would be insane. Maybe we can get JC back out for an unofficial that weekend. That was the weekend he was originally going to take his official.

Does this mean anything for Todd’s situation?

Its beyond impressive that juwan has gotten the amount of top tier guys to visit he has. I know recruiting is all about who you get but like most things its a numbers game and the more guys you get to visit the more likely you are to land a few.

First year on the job, to have the commitments he does is impressive, IMO. Continuing to get visits/mentions from unsigned elite recruits only keeps UM/Coach Howard in the news — or at least in the buzz in the circles that matter to future recruits.

Building relationships and getting the brand name out there

I wouldn’t read too much into Brown’s visit with regard to Todd’s situation. Maybe Brown’s a contingency plan for Todd, maybe not? Maybe one of the current UM rostered bigs has talked to the coaches about potentially transferring? Or maybe the coaches are trying to build relationships with Brown’s prep/summer league coaches? Or maybe…

I guess long winded way of saying there are a lot of variables that could have legitimately led to Brown setting an official visit.

An interesting read on a kid who Michigan will be seeing a lot of in the near future.

Think that this was a miss on our part?

I’ve have always liked what I saw from Bowman. I think he’ll be a solid 4 year college player who becomes an above average big ten pg by the time he’s done. I don’t think he’s Cassius Winston but that type of trajectory/improvement year over year would not surprise me.

I don’t think coach to coach bonding is the primary motivation for the player’s visit.
