Being right and having advanced knowledge aren’t the same thing. Reporting standards for compensated reporters at legitimate publications exist for a reason, and I think we’re seeing it.
Yes you can. People like Sam Webb and many others in the recruiting industry have a track record to fall back on so you know who you can trust. Many of them won’t even make a CB without direct knowledge from a source extremely close to the situation giving them specific reason to do so. This unnamed source has no history to even know who the hell he is. Could be some random old AAU teammate of his or could be a guy with a Rivals subscription. We don’t know and there is no track record to base it off and there are no consequences for being wrong.
Or will fully acknowledge their “crystal ball” is simply their best guess - not a reported fact.
Anyone else feel like if all the crystal balls and projections were for ASU… Josh would have chosen UM???
Sam and DOT are notoriously conservative in their picks of whether a guy is coming here.
johnmiller has been spot on and obviously has connections to people.
Kid played everyone. Unfortunately recruiting is full of these games.
You are THE biggest Cole Bajema fan? Hmmm, let’s just say we’re tied for first!
Me and you Silver… us against the world mentality
I mean John Miller confirmed that he talked with Josh’s brother and cousin and they both said Michigan 100%…
As someone on here hinted he may have played our coaching staff, too, and if he did, that’s really not cool.
Why would they lie to him, just part of the game?
Fair, but your key word is “could.” I don’t see how you could make such a bold statement such as “Ant doesn’t know,” or that he is certainly guessing. I’m not gonna follow Ant’s word more closely than Sam nor Dot etc… he could very well just have one guy that he talks to. But at the same time I’m not going to brush it off, since there is a percentage chance that his source is legit, so when he says something, I’m going to factor it in, albeit carefully, into what my perceptions are. Sample size of one, but Ant definitely got a bunch of people on guard for Christopher’s announcement who weren’t before.
Why do people think unaccredited, non-professional information sources routinely “provide” juicier details than, say, Webb, Quinn, Baumgarner, or any employee of 24/7, Rivals, Scout?
Either that or Josh lied to his family which I doubt. If Josh’s brother and cousin didn’t know where he was going, then they probably would have reiterated that to John Miller.
I’m thinking this was an effort to make his commitment as shocking as possible.
You guys are debating screen shots of text messages from a random person. This is turning into some kind of high school gossip thing.
Let’s get back to roster discussion on here and skip the silly season.
Dylan, what do you think the move is? Pursue a guard transfer and if we strike out, give Jace a scholarship? And what about if Todd doesn’t come, then would we try for two transfers?
I think an immediately eligible underclassman transfer would be the best option.
I mean… isn’t discussing the drama a major part of the appeal of following recruiting (and sports in general, see the NBA)?
Is that a dice roll, generally speaking? Like how do we know that Jamal Bienemy (just to take a name you were discussing elsewhere, not speaking specifically about him) would be able to play immediately?
Will largely come down to this.
Pursuing a non 5th year transfer is pretty worthwhile. If it passes, you get a guy right away. If it doesnt, you develop him for a year. Like it has been said, probably don’t want constant 5-6 new players every recruiting class.
