Pretty sure that Derrick isn’t eligible to play in the European competition because of when he joined the team.
OK thanks.
Yeah, that’s a common rule in European sports.
“The news of Beilein’s trip to Germany comes from an unlikely source, as 2019 three-star combo guard Nah’Shon Hyland tipped TMI off to the trip. When asked whether Beilein will be visiting him next week, Hyland told TMI that Beilein wasn’t expected to be on the trip.”
Gotta work on Hyland keeping of program secrets haha
Go land him John!
Sounds promising.
Coach Beilein ain’t goin over there for the Wiener schnitzel
Cliff notes anyone?
Cliff notes are exactly what poppin posted. The development is that JB will be in Germany next week. We will have to wait and see if he is able to make headway with that. I’m sure he wants to get a more definitive answer from Franz about his future before he starts to push for some of these other guys.
In terms of immediate impact for next year’s roster, how does Franz compare to Pierce or Quinones?
I think if I were a coach I’d find someone international to recruit every year. “There’s this kid in Fiji, I gotta see him live” next year, “…definitely gotta do some evaluations in London…”
Sam Webb has said that he expects Wagner to be the most likely of the possible freshman to be a contributor from day one (including commits) by a decent amount.
Don’t know about Pierce. I wonder what the comparison is in Wagner and Pierce’s competition level. No clue what the Germany scene is like, but obviously professionals will be better than the CAA.
Lol Hyland is breaking news daily.
I would guess that Quinones is the most likely to be an early contributor. Similar to Iggy, he has experience playing in a system in prep school against high quality comp. I’d probably put Franz #2 behind Quinones as far as readiness. He’s played against pros in a better league than the NCAA and is a proven shooter there.
Has anyone asked Hyland whether McCaffrey has a shot at Patterson’s job?
Thought I was the only person thinking we may be better off with McCaffrey?:
If JB flying to Germany next week is actually happening. I believe Franz is our top priority in our coaching staffs eyes. Timing tells me JB wants an answer from Franz to make a decision on other visiting players.
Agree, I don’t see how the late May early June timeline that some have reported will work for UM.
I haven’t heard much lately on any possible incoming players outside of Wagner, Quinones, Pierce, Hyland or Iggy/Poole returning. Has anyone else? Perhaps Michigan has decided that they will take any of those 4 and if they don’t get any or only 1 then that is the group they will roll with for next season. Can’t say I’d be upset. Even if it means a little more struggle next year I think it’s always good to not take players to fill spots just for the sake of it. Not saying this is the final group either I just haven’t seen or heard anything in a bit outside these guys. Maybe a Grad Transfer pops up or a kid gets a release from a school or something.
The timing of JB’s visit definitely tells me he is giving Frantz an ultimatum before moving forward with Bones.
