Not much of a surprise. Hopefully some other viable wing transfer targets appear. We badly need help at the 2 and 3 next year.

Is there any other players in the transfer portal Michigan has expressed interest in?

ESPN has it as well:

Time to put on the full-court press on Jalen Wilson and Franz Wagner. It would be nice to have a full coaching staff officially in place ASAP.

I wonder if Juwan takes a look at D Thornton. I’m not sure he’s an upgrade over Brooks, but the competition shouldn’t hurt.

I’d take him but not really a two? Not that eli is exactly but he’s more combo then Thornton I feel like.

Also agreed, makes sense to add some grad transfer.

He’s from Oregon and goes to college in New Mexico so unlikely he’s interested, but we at least need to toss a flyer out there. Would instantly lock down the SG spot.

It’s hard to see a grad transfer who wants to play PG coming to Michigan. Even if he could get a lot of minutes at the 2, he’s going to want to play his best position for the pros.

Would have to think that Oregon is a favorite. He’s good friends with Payton Pritchard.

Sigh of course

Sucks, really seems like the roster next year is going to end up being 10 scholarship guys 3 of which are exclusively 5’s. Next year could be a huge struggle just to make the postseason

We have 3 Cs and 3 PGs.

Double whammy in that we’d have to play against him.

Yup. We BADLY need a wing commit. Wilson or Franz would make me feel so much better about next year, even though they may be a bit raw.

Have any names emerged as potential grad transfers? After Cumberland Cincinnati commitment?

Anthony Mathis, UNM. 41.6% from three, broke school record with 106 three pointers last year. Averaged 14.4 and shot 88.8% FT to rank 13th in the country. Don’t know if there is mutual interest. Just entered the portal today, I believe. Immediately eligible.

As mentioned above, Mathis is a great fit on paper. He also grew up in Oregon, played HS ball with Oregon starting PG Payton Pritchard and Oregon needs a shooting guard. Most signs point toward him transferring to Oregon.
