2019 Transfer Market

Same. But like I said, they’ll have 7 dudes who have at varying levels established themselves. Trice, Reuvers (going to be a stud next year), and Davison is a good core. The other players are all extremely limited though. But should make the tournament.

Considering Wisky’s program is built on 4 year guys and continuity, having 2 out of 3 players from a class transfer after 1 year has gotta be scary. They have 5 scholarship Jrs. When that class is gone, they’re going to be an extremely young team if they don’t get the Hausers.

PG - Trice - Pritzl
SG - Davison - King
SF - Ford - Wahl
PF - Reuvers
C - Potter - Hedstrom

This is an approximation of Wisconsin’s depth chart. They probably run an 8 man rotation without Wahl. Pritzl is the only guy they bring back with an ORating of 106 or better. I think Reuvers makes a jump… But that roster is ugly. I would say that they are on the bubble all year or worse.

I agree with this and think the tournament will be a stretch for them. I know Dylan has said all along that it will be interesting to see what post-Ethan Happ life is like for Wisconsin but this does not look very promising. And I will continue to say I am not sold on Gard as the answer. His saving grace could be if he uses this year as a bridge to the Hausers being eligible

Good point but Duncan had a redshirt year and two years of practice in the Beilein system. I hope the kid can add value but I think it’s a tight window and a huge learning curve. This offense is complex and very little room for error, he also has to D up and CANNOT turn the ball over. I think he’ll be behind the Sophomore’s.

Here’s to hoping the Hausers don’t work out for them.

I don’t know about that. They return more scoring than we do, and are good defensively. Reuvers also was really effective on both offense and defensively (he’s a really tough matchup for Teske), my guess is he’s going to breakout this year. Wisconsin looks like they’ll be in the group of 3 or 4 teams (UofM included) behind MSU in the B1G.

But, he only had one year with Yaklich and at the start of that year, he was a below average defender.

I like Reuvers as a 2nd banana, but he got a lot of looks off Happ. With him being the #1 on the scouting report, I think things will look different for them. Everybody else is a nice complimentary piece but I’m just not buying them being in a tier with Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, OSU, maybe even Illinois

Their offense will stink, barring a huge jump from Trice or Davison (always a possibility). They will be good on defense though.

All the teams you listed have questions similar to UW (aside from OSU and maybe Illinois). They all lost their top scorers (UofM lost top 3) and are looking for answers. Wisconsin looks like they return more than most and they were good last year.

Seems like he’d get decent advice from his HS coach. Sounds like he just can’t hack the competition.

Their entire offense revolved around Happ though. And it was ranked 62nd on KenPom

We’re relying on huge jumps from multiple guys this year too. I wouldn’t be so quick to write them off, they’ve been consistently good for a lot of years

Consistently good at making your eyes bleed.

Did you know that every woman in Madison ends up pregnant when Wisconsin plays a game below 50 points? It’s their program’s dream scenario to win a game in the 47-45 range and the entire city can’t hold in their excitement.

At least 12 statues of Dick Bennett are built when this occurs as well.

LOL. Were it not for how focused they are on drawing charges I’d have no problem with all of this, but, still, LOL.

Wouldn’t be surprised if their offense improved without Happ. It was a lot of isolation and Happ couldnt shoot outside of 5ft. They’ll likely have 5 good shooters on the floor now and Wisconsin generally has always moved the ball well. They return more production than we do.

The fact that Happ never developed a 3point shot is incredible to me. He was athletic enough to do so and would’ve changed him completely as an NBA prospect.

He couldn’t even hit 50% of his free throws how would he magically develop a 3 point shot?

it’s cause he CLEARLY didn’t work on his game in college

Wouldn’t be shocked if they move Reuvers to the “5” and have either King or Pritzl start. Pritzl started a ton of games his sophomore year.
