I stand corrected. Thatâs 3. To make it clear though, again, Chris was not bumped ahead of a recruit we had been pursuing since the previous Julyâthere were few options on the board at that time. And treyâs dad was clearly a guy Beilein knew wellâthere have been no indications that Hyland was on the radar via a contact like that; rather, the reporting is that he blew up in Chicago and we, along with others, saw him and have a need.
I like Hylandâs film. Iâd be happy to get him,. He might turn out to be better than Quinones wherever they go. I have no stake in having Quinones ranked higher on our boardâwhatever Beilein and the staff decide is fine with me. Facts though are facts, and when one guy is visiting and another guy still hasnât set one up, right nowâsubject to change of courseâthat means something.
See, this is misrepresenting what he actually said, which is that heading into visits the buzz was ND (It absolutely was, thatâs why Beilein wanted to get the in home visit in before he went to ND) and that those could easily change things. Then, after talking with him he said he had a âvery positive update.â You say itâs fluid and then try to mark it as a bad thing that Sam changed his opinion after talking with the kid.
See Iâm on the other end there pop. I think this team if they land some immediate help is in the mix. Z, teske, and livers is a very nice trio and I think we see a much better eli, johns, and castleton. If we add some immediate offensive fire power we will contend again imo.
Iâll agree I think quinones is a bit overrated personally but I like him. Hyland isnât an immediate help imo but I see why everyone likes him. He has. Craftiness/ awkwardness to his game that I do like which along with his range could make him a nice player.

sly⌠i think weâd need to see elevated play from DDJ/Castleton and have Wagner + Johns break out.
i love X and know im on an island here, but when the 1 and 5 cant shoot, you are gonna be limited offensively in addition to fact we dont know how many shot creators we will have next year.
if castleton and DDJ break out and you lower teske and X minutes to somethign closer to 30 i could see it. But 35-38 mins a game for X and Teske, youâre evevntually gonna get cold/run into a good D and lose

Iâm not misrepresenting what Sam said. Moreover, Pierce had taken the ND visit the week before Sam made the statement, and even if he said exactly as you state it (which is not how I remember it at all, but whatever), by the time Sam made it, it wasnât that things COULD easily change with Pierce, things HAD changedâND, per most accounts, was not in the top 2 prior to the Michigan visit. Further, I know for a fact that Pierce was a guy Michigan coveted and hoped to get to commit on his visit, which started the same day Sam said on WTKA that he (Sam) hadnât even watched film on Pierce and he was down the list. Again, Iâm NOT dumping on Samâheâs very good at what he doesâbut the notion that what he, or any other service, guru, source or anyone else says is gospel is something I donât even think Sam would say.
Got to go back to workâhave a brief due. Hopefully, we get two from among the four guys in play and have a great season. Go Blue!
Iâm a big fan of both Sam and JeffâŚI assure you that Jeff isnât trying to disparage Sam. You donât need to try to pick him apart, and Iâd also assume that Jeff is working with more info than most of us.
What if LQ leaves without an offer? Prospects have came and went without being offered before. Jeff seems to imply that an offer is automatic. Nothing is automatic until it happens.
Sounds like UM has now cancelled the LQ visit

Or the staff caught wind that LQ wasnât really considering Michigan and didnât want to waste resources chasing a losing battle? Especially if the option of LQ might negatively impact another prospectâs decision?

So now weâre looking at Hyland, Pierce, and Wagner as the main three guys left. Anyone Iâm forgetting? I forget who it was, but someone on 247 said that they strongly think Wagner will get a call before the spots officially fill up with a âhereâs your chanceâ sorta thing.
