As of right now there is not a open scholarship for Thornton, if he was to transfer from Duke. There is an open scholarship for Cain for the 2017 recruiting class.
Tough one, as I think DT is most definitely an impact 2 way player. I also feel the same about Cain. The thing that pushes me toward Cain is that heās probably a significant upgrade at the 3 from anyone on the roster once Zaks leaves. I think DT is/will be better than X, but not by the same margin in relation to Cain.
Yes, I understand that, but Michigan did inquire about Broome. As of right now, there is not a scholarship for Broome. If itās fair to speculate about Broome then itās fair to speculate about non-Broome potential transfers, too.
I donāt know if Iām missing something on Cain, but to me he just wreaks of McDonaldās AA level skill/athleticism. If LeVert and GRIII had a baby, I feel like that baby would play basketball like Cain. I really hope he can get locked up before he blows up.
What is the wait? Would Michigan be his leader?
Hail - I REALLY want to share some things about Cain, hopefully I have something in the next week or so.
Sounds good. How about this:
Over/under 50% chance he commits to Michigan at some point? Give me something lol.
Have to respect the family privacy. Believe me, itās not for lack of want.
I will say this ā if he somehow ends up at MSU, someone will have screwed up big time.
Donnie Tillman running with the Oakland Soldiers on the AAU circuit instead of the Detroit Stars, which is now obsolete.
Anthony wright has been all over Jamal Cain and wanting him at Michigan. He thinks extremely highly of him.
MattD - I really hope you have some good news for us. Would love to see a home town kid staring at Michigan.
Anybody got more dish on Thornton? Spots are open now if we want him for '17.
Anthony Wright is all over a lot of questionable recruits. Heās entertaining on Twitter but heās all over the map with the type of player Michigan should recruit.
He is also adamant Michigan doesnāt lack athleticism on its current roster. Not sure how heās drawing that conclusion other than he doesnāt want to say anything negative about the program and I get that.
Yeah, I love Ant for doing what he did to OU in the 09 tourney. But when he labels DJ Wilson a next level athlete with the skills of a 3, he tends to lose a bit of credibility IMO.
I saw that yesterday and almost dropped my phone. Thatās just him being overly nice. No way he truly believes that.
I believe in DJ Wilson. Young for his grade. His body seems to be responding to training. He is going to break out. Just my opinion.
I guess I would ask, what is breaking out to you? A contributor on a quality B1G team? I can see that. Breaking out into a primary option on a quality B1G team? I donāt see it happening. Obviously heās got plenty of time to develop as heāll be a RS sophomore next year, but heās gotta start doing something consistently before I have hope that heāll be something more than a guy coming off the bench at Michigan. Not saying it canāt or wonāt happen, but I just havenāt seen signs yet.
I can see him breaking out twice. First, breaking into the regular rotation, but not starting. Second breaking into the starting lineup. He has 3 years to get there. I believe he can do it.
First, somebody needs to decide what position he is going to play for us. It doesnāt appear to be the five. I would hope that he could become our answer at the four or at least in the mix there. It would free up Irvin to play more at the two or three and give us a better option against bigger fours. Plus, who do we have to play the four in 2017 when Irvin is gone?
I think DJ pretty much has to be a 4 assuming he can make enough outside shots. We really need one of DJ or Kam to break out to be contenders next year. Both seem unlikely at this point, but I guess I would give a slight edge to DJ at this point because I think he has greater upside, while Kam probably has a little higher floor.
