2016 Point Guard Recruiting (Xavier Simpson)

Had no idea Murray was so old for his class…wonder if he will reclassify? I like his game but it does diminish my view slightly. He would be damn near 20 during his first college game assuming he doesn’t reclassify to 2015.

Fun Fact: Oldest U17 Cadet? Jamal Murray (Feb 23/97) Youngest U17 Cadet? Howard Washington Jr (March 24/98) #CdnBallers

Tons of players are a year old for their class but yes reclassification is the buzz.

I’d say that is more than a year old for his class. To put this in perspective, I was 20 years old when I began my senior year of undergrad, and I was never double-promoted in either middle/HS

Most kids turn 19 their freshman year, he is turning 20… same for MAAR, Josh Jackson, Josh Langford, Thon Maker, etc…heck DTJR is on the older side for 2016.

Interesting to know…is this something new?

Langford is older. Not unusual.

I’m not exactly sure when parents started holding their kids back a great to dominate.

Its why an age ranking makes more sense than a class ranking but JB has used this to his advantage (Kam, Caris, etc)

If Murray does reclassify, I would expect the coaches to push hard for him and would be really pleased if he joined the team in 15. Still confused if he/coaches see him as a 2 or a 1. I would like him in the Stu Douglas role.

.@JayFekete I think Kentucky leads over Michigan for Derryck Thornton. #Crystalball says Michigan over Kentucky http://t.co/EsZ6aOglZw

I mean he crystallballed that months ago and I personally think he is guessing.

I hope so, but recruitments that are long in nature generally do not work out well for us. Kam is the exception but for the most part it always appears we initially lead for a kid until he gets a “better” offer and then we disappear.

As far as I know, DTJR is deciding in the fall of his jr year. I also think Ullis will deter him…he has been excellent in exhibition.

I agree that Ulis will be a big impediment for Kentucky landing DTJr. He looked very good in the game I saw earlier this week and his height should keep him there for at least three years. Walton (likely early NBA entry after soph or jr year) and Spike will be gone by the time DTJr is a Frosh…the job is his immediately if he picks the right color blue.

Aren’t they always guessing? This crystal ball stuff is silly.

Only time it’s useful is a few days prior to the decision

Good to see we’re maintaining communication with other options if things don’t work out with DTJ. Winston is a really nice offensive player

I’m surprised it’s taken this long.

Look for my feature on 2016 PG Derryck Thornton on Devils Illustrated tomorrow. Duke has been amping up the communications with the junior.

DT summer mixtape - looks like a compilation of film we’ve already seen
