2016 5-Star Power Forward TJ Leaf Hosting Five Schools
2 minutes ago
With the Men’s Basketball Recruiting Calendar opening up on Tuesday, September 9th, juniors will see coaches come by their schools to evaluate them and seniors will see them either at their school, in their homes or a combination of both. TJ Leaf, the fourth-highest rated power forward in the Class of 2016, will host coaches from Arizona, Michigan, UCLA, Florida and Xavier this week.
Leaf will visit Duke on October 25th for their version of Midnight Madness.
Definitely recall Bridges not being overly enthused about Michigan in some past interviews. Obviously that can change, but was not thinking he was going to be a prospect with high mutual interest.
Come to think of it, is there ever a player that we lead early for and kept the lead for several months while he was recruited by other schools right up until his commitment? Chatman, maybe?
Generally speaking, prolonged recruitments don’t go well for us. I think we may have courted Irvin for a while and maintained as the frontrunner throughout, but other than that I can’t really think of any. We seem to be the placeholder/leverage for a number of recruits.
About time they finally took recruiting seriously.
Obvious sarcasm taken, but I honestly believe our staff approaches recruiting in a much more conservative manner in relation to other coaches. I get the vibe that our coaches don’t ‘beg’ kids to come…but in today’s recruiting climate, that’s pretty much what you have to do unless you are UK or Duke…just the way it is.
I think we've discussed this before and I know what you're saying. But a definite positive outcome of this approach is you kind of separate the wheat from the chaff, meaning the flakes, or kids who need their egos stroked, won't come here. It's tough because obviously a lot of the elite talents are used to being told how great they are, getting special treatment, etc., and through that environment can come to depend on it. But the elite talents who are humble, desire to work, enjoy trying to be the best they can be for themselves, rather than attention from someone else, tend to do better.

Can’t really see us going hard after this kid with Teske already in the mix…Ward is strictly a 5 in my opinion. Not really all that impressed by the film either
