That’s kind of what I always understood him to be back when we were recruiting him. But all the highlights I’ve seen are hitting tough one on one shots and 3 pointers. Maybe that’s by nature of having to be the best player on his team he feels obligated to do that.
But I did have to chuckle at MSU fans freaking out about a 1 legged Dirk shot he took from 19 feet. That’s not a shot you’ll ever want to see him take and it should be giving them Rocket flashbacks
I’m just baffled if MSU isn’t prioritizing a kid with Rodgers’ talent whose uncle is Jason Richardson. Maybe it is the opposite and his camp isn’t interested in MSU…but that’s also strange. He’s my favorite non-Bufkin prospect in the state by a long shot.
Rodgers dad is self described um fan. It seems like theres some bad blood there between rodgers and msu(maybe related to brian bowen) because rodgers doesn’t even mention msu anymore.
Highly recommend flipping on Bally Sports (lol) to watch this game. It’s been so entertaining so far. Really high level basketball and a back and forth game
Yes I have heard Ty and his dad like Michigan more than MSU. From my understanding from a couple summers ago, Ty’s dad is super strict and doesn’t tolerate the slightest BS involving or around Ty because of what happened with his brother (Tugs’s dad) and nephew (Tugs). Not sure if what happened between MSU and Tugs and his dad was the reason for the lack of MSU interest or if it was before that though. Ty is a tremendous prospect regardless. He’s playing for Meanstreets this summer, which was the same AAU program Isaiah Livers and Ty’s cousin Tugs Bowen played for. Jaaron Faulds also played for Meanstreets.
yep something had to have happened between izzo and the family, because rodgers is the profile of prospect(top 50 in state kid with msu ties) izzo would normally be recruiting like a maniac.
I coached this year against Gregg Glenn and watched him play in 2 or 3 more games. I said it shortly after we played him, but of all the wings/forwards Michigan is pursuing in 2022, I think Glenn is my least favorite. Still a really good player but I think all the other targets are a notch above him in terms of overall skill set and what they can provide on both ends and then also NBA upside which long term is important for colleges selling to recruits. I still think Glenn is a top 100 guy, but he’s closer to 100 than top 50 imo. If Michigan misses on their other current wing/forward targets (Walker, Dailey, Rodgers, etc) then I’d love for Michigan to land Glenn but he’s the one I hope Michigan doesn’t land early and then squeezes out the other targets. I’d much prefer any of the other prospects first.
The bigs in 2022 are pretty meh. And one of the better ones just committed to Vanderbilt in Lee Dort. Donovan Clingan might be the main target but right now I’m guessing he stays home and plays for UCONN. Landing a quality big or two in this class will be crucial.
It might honestly be better for that class because whomever Michigan brings in will likely need to contribute major minutes as a freshman and that’s tough to ask for most recruits. Especially as a big man in the BIG.
Adem Bona is raw offensively but he’s an elite rim protector and plays hard. He impressed me after seeing him in person at GEICO. Wouldn’t be opposed to Michigan kicking the tires with him.
Assuming Diabate and Dickinson are gone, we’d also be losing Johns which is every C shaped player on our team. Possibly Tschetter but I’m not sure he’ll be able to guard that position as a sophomore.
I feel like I’d just take the 5 best players that commit and then fill the holes with transfers. We could have as few as 5 returning players for 2023. Depending on attrition I would have loved to have gotten a freshman or sophomore C transfer. If not we should be the #1 destination for the Wahab’s of the world next offseason.
