Wasn’t Ben Carlson someone Michigan was taking a long look at? I thought I remembered reading that we were high on his list, but I could be wrong.
Yeah, he has taken an unofficial visit. Missed him on the list. He’s someone they are tracking, but seems notable that they haven’t offered yet (despite a visit).
Got it. Thanks Dylan! If you had to guess right now (which is somewhat unfair, admittedly), who will be the next 2019 or 2020 prospect to commit to Michigan?
Sam Webb said Abdur-Rahim is visiting in the spring and expects an offer to go out on his visit. The kid went to school with incoming football recruit David Ojabo and they are friends so I’m hoping Michigan can overcome the Georgia uncle factor in this one.
I would certainly expect an offer when a visit happens. The group of players in that middle tier is supposed to be made up of players who are at least considering a visit and would likely receive an offer when it happens.
I’d love to land any of those kids in that middle tier. Other than Kessler, I like those guys the best out of anyone they are recruiting. Hopefully Michigan can make a strong impression if/when they visit.
There aren’t many names on the board who are looking at spring decisions or anything like that. If I had to be ton next 2020 commit, I’d go with a guy who rises quickly during the April live period and plays his way onto the radar
I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Michigan end up with a late add in 2019, but that could be a grad transfer, a decommit from a coaching change, who knows what. Quinones would be a fantastic add (instant impact shooting) but I’m not sure I’d call Michigan a favorite in that recruitment right now.
Thanks for the update! So thorough and gives a great perspective that we are in a good place so far with the class especially considering that we have one of the few top 100 players in the class with a commitment already (Zeb).
Gets hard to keep up with recruiting in season, so needed to do a thorough roundup. Hope you guys enjoyed!
I also am hearing JB is going hard after Quinones for 2019.
Yeah we broke down Quinones a bit here. https://umhoops.com/2019/02/10/four-star-wing-lester-quinones-names-michigan-top-seven/
Of note on Carlson, this article is from Dec 30 says we have been in contact more. Probable backup plan to Kessler with Loveday as well.
Carlson is a major priority for Stanford. They’ve been out several times to see him this year. I don’t think anyone has put in as much time (at least that’s been publicly put out there) with him as them.
