Ranking the conferences

…for real. +1

Right now, how would everyone rank the conference strength? Which is the best overall? Best heavy hitters? Best depth?

I still think the ACC will be the cream of the crop when it’s all said and done.

  1. AC
    2a. Big Ten
    2b. Big 12
  2. Big East
  3. SEC
  4. Pac 12

Right now I think it looks like

ACC
Big 12
Big 10
Big East
SEC
Pac12

Only looking at the RPI’s is interesting…

ACC: 7 teams Top 50
Pac12: 8 teams Top 50, 11 teams Top 100
Big 12: 7 teams Top 75
SEC: 9 teams Top 100
Atlantic 10: 6 teams Top 100, 10 teams Top 150
Big 10: 7 teams Top 100
Big East: 6 teams Top 100

Only Atlantic 10 and ACC have 3 teams in the Top 15.

Way too early for RPI in my opinion… Here’s the KenPom ranking of conferences:

Pac12 is interesting with Arizona down, I thought them and UCLA would push them up some but I think they’re more competitive than they get credit for right now.

I love that basketball has a wealth of good conferences though - Big East, A10 added to the American + Power 5. Wish football was a little more spread out and better depth.
