Yea maybe, unless Doyle redshirts, which they may not have the luxury of doing. I'm just hoping it is not due to style of play. JB talked about getting a shotblocker on the team in the wake of the new defensive rules. We only got the real Mitch for a few weeks in 2012 and it made such a huge difference to have that shot blocking/rebounding beast down low and I don't see anyone on our roster adequately filling that void.
Beilein mentioned that in regard to how the block/charge call was called this season. It’s been clear that the charge has been a stand in for generating extra possessions (instead of blocks). I would tend to expect that Beilein may consider blocking capability in the future. However, I wouldn’t use up a scholarship at this point specifically to get a shot blocker as a transfer.
In short, I would say not going after a transfer prospect in the late signing period that has a penchant for shot blocking is a not a sign of Beilein being averse to recruiting a prospect who can shot block down the road.
Any insight as to why we are not in on the South Florida Center that is transferring? He sounds like the shot blocking/rebounder that we desperately need. I realize he is not eligible until next year, but I still think he would bring a skill set we will lack in 2015.
There could be a lot of reasons. First, he may have no interest in us. Second, the coaches my not like his overall game, may not feel he’d be a good fit here. Maybe his academics are marginal. Schools like South and Central Florida have a spotty record of following the rules, which might reflect on their recruits. There are lots of players, highly rated players, who never get a Michigan offer. This is no different.
Seems Hizzo has had his eye on him. And With Stan Heath a Former Asst. Under Hizzo he would get 1st crack!!
