sounded to me like BQ was trying to indicate what he’d heard and was trying not to hang a This Is Reporting sign on it. and it sounded bad.
hypothetically if some cluster of dudes like Max Abmas, Jaykwon Walton, and Olivier Nkamhoua said “we will commit to Michigan together on the spot if you get rid of Caleb Love” would you find a way to jettison him?
hypothetically
a year of poor man’s Christian Anderson before the real thing steps on the court makes a lot of sense
I’m thinking players on the current roster might not want to play with him, either.
gd why do I never google these criminals
You trying to recruit the Dirty Dozen for a do or die National Championship run?
Why did we take him then?
We don’t think TWill or Chedder should start and so why take another guy at that spot who shouldn’t start/?
He’s a good bench piece. and can shoot and is much longer and more athletic than the other options. Also it probably took very little recruiting capital to get him.
Maybe I wasn’t paying close enough attention, but it totally sounded like a hypothetical from BQ asking Dylan if he thought that could be a concern.
I don’t think we have any indication that it would be at this point anyway.
Here’s my (admittedly optimistic) take on Tray Jackson. I tend to focus on his junior year when he was actually playing PF and getting 18 minutes per game with efficient shooting numbers. I think that version of Jackson is an upgrade over TWill or WillT because he can shoot, he has positional size, and he’s fairly athletic. He raises the floor at that position for sure and thus you take him. Even if he’s only a 20mpg guy that’s slightly better than the group last year, that’s 20 minutes you aren’t giving to the other guys. I wouldn’t count on more upside since he’s been at a high-major for years, but there’s hope.
Also, even if we wouldn’t prefer this option at all, he’s your emergency center since he played there (admittedly poorly) last year. So you raised the floor at the 4 and gave yourself emergency insurance at the 5. That’s a take…
Because they needed an upgrade at the backup 4 and Jackson was available?? Not sure but there is a reason they want a legitimate starting 4. There’s not one on the roster
