Portal Mega Pod: Do you know who’s on your Big Ten team?

I think I said that Illinois needs to go get an impact senior PG, that’s a pretty big ask right?

Northwestern’s whole situation hinges on their two best players coming back.

I think Domask and Harmon would clearly be takes if you are Michigan, but that doesn’t mean they were possibilities or fits.

Langborg, Preston and Mullins are guys that make sense if you are Northwestern. Just feels like the right level and a situation where you can marinate someone like Mullins. I think I made the Audige comparison on the pod.

A school like U-M probably isn’t taking Audige and playing through him for two years with poor results to get to what he was last year. A school like Northwestern, it makes sense to gamble on young talent.

Couldn’t believe the Storr hype wasn’t accompanied w Essegian hype. Very hurt rn.

Not really an on-ball/off-ball thing as much as a guy who can actually play the wing and you can run stuff for. Wisconsin isn’t really a huge on-ball offense but Storr can play off of handoffs, screens on or off ball and gives you something resembling a real high-major wing.

or do they :smiling_imp:

Are his on-ball numbers that nice? I thought his highlights were almost entirely second side/off the catch/attacking close outs. Didn’t love his handle or passing. I’m obvi a ridic stan for Essegian but I’ve at least seen him play in iso and off handoffs, etc.

Essegian’s game was almost entirely spotting up or running off of off-ball screens.

Again, I don’t think this is really about on-ball/off-ball stuff because so much of that is system dependent.

But yeah he had 50% more on-ball plays in Synergy (pnr, iso, dho) on 25% fewer overall plays than Essegian.

Essegian is basically a 2-guard who can’t guard but is an elite shooter, Storr is a real wing on a team that played Jordan Davis at the wing last year. Nice upgrade but don’t think there’s any need to compare them because roles are so different.

Interesting from BQ about portal recruits expressing concern to M about playing with Love.

I missed that. That’s not good. Also not surprising.

That was BQ widely speculating and asking the question - it wasn’t him presenting information. He asked Dylan if he thought that was possible.

I don’t think that’s the case because I don’t think there are a lot of players we were recruiting where that would apply. The kind of guy scared off by him would be an on ball creator and we haven’t been rumored with them lately.

Gotcha. Agreed. But wouldn’t shock me if he turned away some just based on reputation

Is he scaring away no name guys? We haven’t had our name attached to any higher end guys besides Cleveland and Nkamoua.

@umhoops I think I generally like all of Michigan’s adds, but the roster dictates that they still need more players pretty clearly.

You are good with our guard situation. If we continue to separate out SF v PF we have starters in Burnett and Jackson with ample depth at each spot. Clearly we need somebody as backup center. If I were Juwan, I would find a backup center somewhere (does Austin Davis still have a year of eligibility?) and just hold onto that last scholarship unless a clear star falls into your lap, which seems unlikely.

I’ll go back and listen in case I misheard. I thought he was clear, without naming names, that some players approached in the portal had mentioned it as a concern.

“I can say for a fact – I’m pretty sure – a number of transfer contacts that they had, that they had conversations with, brought that up”

I can say for a fact—I’m pretty sure… are two phrases which do not go together.
