Let’s goooooooooooo!!!
Hello folks!
Two hours…….yessssssss
90% of it is Brendan asking why Joe Toussaint isn’t included, though.
Spoiler alert??? Can’t tell if serious…
2+ hours?!? Let’s get spicy
Dylan is right and Brendan is wrong about Trevion. I am selling him at the 4 alllll day and even him at the 5 he’s clearly not been as good as Kofi and Hunter. Pretty sure I said I slightly prefer TJD to him and I’m still there.
This Purdue team is gonna be weird and Painter is going to have to go deeeeep into his bag to get everybody bought in and max out this team’s wins.
I think Purdue is gonna be real good. I’m a big trevion fan
Re: the Kofi/Hunter debate, Brendan misspoke re: Kofi’s G League Elite Camp standing reach measurement, so just wanted to look it up for myself. It’s bananas just how much bigger Kofi is than Hunter. Kofi has FORTY pounds on Hunter at a lower body fat %.
Anybody else have a paradoxically negative visceral reaction when Brendan started to talk about the great things he’s heard about Jones and Houstan, and they they were both potentially ranked on the lower end of their possible outcomes? Or is it just me that will never forget his projection of Watts/Hauser combining for 10+ assists per game that came out of last year’s pod?
I just finished the pod. Took two days - including a commute and a jog. Whew…
What I learned is that we absolutely need some prop bets between BQ and Dylan related to Trevion Williams and Fatts Russell. Forget the season preview work…get on this ASAP!
Here’s my take on Williams. He had a very good year last year and is a very good player. How does he get better this year? I don’t think he’s going to suddenly learn to shoot, I don’t think he’s going to grow to a legit 7-foot, I don’t think he’s going to attack closeouts (mostly because no one will close out on him). Now add into his own limitations the fact that more offense is going to run through Ivey, he might play some awkward twin-towers PF, and he’s going to sit for Edey at times. I just don’t see the upside. I think Purdue in general has some interesting potential if Ivey is a star…but I get leery of stars who can’t shoot and I think that a decent part of Purdue’s record last year had to do with an easy schedule. I think they’ll be good…I’m not buying them as the conference champs.
So Austin Meek is taking over the basketball beat now?
I’m running out of reasons to renew my subscription to the Athletic. I was down to BQ for Michigan Basketball and Cody Stavenhagen for the Tigers. Not sure it’s worth it for just Tigers coverage
The Athletic is really struggling. Their merger with NY Times fell apart. There are a couple good writers there but I have problems making the investment when there only a handful I would read.
BQ is moving on?
From what BQ said, he’s moving to a more national role, but will still have at least some kind of state of Michigan focus at times. I’m pretty certain we won’t be seeing consistent, weekly UM stories though.
He’s still writing for the athletic but writing nationally
Ugh Meek is so meh. Losing BQ is brutal. They have solid NBA and fantasy sports coverage which is about all I will consume there if no BQ Michigan stories. Not that anyone cares, but their Braves coverage is atrociously bad. Two washed up old timers that had been let go by the local paper that no one likes. I have no idea how they ended up there.
Sounds like BQ is moving on up; great news for him. For us, dunno.
Bravo to BQ. It is what all of us aspire to, to move up In our profession. Way to go, BQ! We wish you all the best!
