I don’t know who this Greg loser is. I’d much rather hear from buckets12!

to someone who hasn’t paid much attention to the rest of the league yet, to me it seems like an insane called shot for @buckets12 to correctly pick penn state upsetting purdue. dylan does that change your tune on PSU at all?
Nah, I think we talked about it on the pod. I liked the spot for Penn State and it was a good pick.
I’m still skeptical of PSU long term though.
Enjoyed the pod, but have one minor quibble - Tre is inconsistent? Nah, he had one poor shooting game. Otherwise, he’s arguably our most consistent player, IMHO.
Penn State was favored
Half to half for two weeks he’s been wildly inconsistent
That’s fair, and we would all like him to be more consistent throughout games. At the same time, if you’re going to bag on Tre for bad first halves, which is certainly reasonable, then you have to praise him for playing at an All-American level in the second halves pre-Wisconsin, since his overall numbers are both quite good and in excess of what we expected. It is possible that the first half/second half dichotomy is a trend, perhaps based on playing offense in front of our bench in the second half, perhaps for some other reason; it’s also possible it’s just small sample size noise. We’ll see.
my practice of only updating my understanding of teams once per year foils me again!
I’m a big hyperbole guy but even Tre’s awesome 2nd half performances are way way way far behind all-American level PG play
He’s been very good this season overall. Inconsistency has been a staple of his performances night to night (and was the entire story at Auburn last year)
I would care to say that Tre Donaldson has been more consistent than just about any player on the roster this season. While we have seen glimpses of what the two Bigs could do, the Wisconsin game was the first where they both clicked offensively. Defense has been good mostly all around from the team.
As Teams adjust to what Mich is doing with Wolf and Goldin, Donaldson will need to be ready to make the offense flow.
Maybe you’re right, since I don’t have the stats in front of me, but my memory is that prior to Wisconsin, he was averaging about 10-11 points and 3 ish assists 9vis-a-vis about 1 turnover) in the second halves of games, which amortized over a full game, computes to 20/6, and some reasonable rebound numbers and good defense to boot. If I’m right, that seems All-American level to me. I agree that the trend may be worrisome, especially given his Auburn past. I’ll wait a bit longer though before pronouncing it a thing. Your mileage may vary.
