Guys at Scout say Towns OR Leaf, not both.
I still believe that Beilein would take both Towns and Leaf. Leaf is a 4. Towns a 3.

I think they land 3 of them

A PG, WING and BIG is assured. Unless UM has 5 ships, I can’t see it.

It’s very likely that at least one more opens up by 2016.
Anyone else you guys hope to see offered in the future?
For me its Jamal Murray, Caleb Swanigan, Josh Langford and another bigman yet tbd. Don’t see Eron Gordon, Kyle Guy or Matthew Moyer joining those ranks. VJ King and Devearl Ramsey are question marks.
4 of any of the 7 offered and future offers = dream class. Love that the staff waits until 1 big day to send out offers.
Some thoughts:
I don’t think it will be one or the other with Towns and Leaf. Towns is a three, Leaf a four.
Leaf is a five star recruit with heavy competition. Towns is under-the-radar but clearly the coaches must like him to offer now. You take him and continue to recruit Leaf.
As I posted yesterday, two other under-the-radar wings with great shooting ability JB recruited years ago were Klay Thompson and Gordon Heyward. I see Towns as a similar player in style. With our track record of finding gems (Novak, Douglas, Morgan, Hardaway, Burke, Robinson, Levert) I’m content letting the coaches offer the kids they like.
I think the three offers to PGs signals that while we clearly want Thornton, we believe we can turn any of the three into great players, and above all else we need a stud PG recruit in 2016. Thornton is probably our preference, but we can win big with any of the three.
As far as guys like VJ King, Langford, Murray, Swanigan and the like, my guess is they become serious targets when the visit for the full academic tour. I would bet Moyer will be offered if Leaf does not pick us.
unused 2014 scholly- 2015 CG
Max’s scholly- 2016 PG
Caris’ scholly- 2016 2G
Spike’s scholy- 2016 PF/C
Is Hatch still planning on a medical scholly? If so, then I can see Towns AND Leaf. Of course, 1 of Irvin/Walton/Chatman would have to declare early, as well.
Anyone be mad if Towns takes Leafs spot?
I doubt that happens. We can easily take both and I doubt Leaf gets scared off by a Towns commitment.

How? No one has explained this.
I’m not sure number shortages or logic play into the Leaf recruitment when it comes to schollys. If he has an overwhelming desire to attend UM, it’s hard to not believe room will be made for him. Whether it’s a player on the roster now transferring, or some other form of attrition ( initiated by staff? ) they will find an opening for TJ. Two years away is a long time for openings to surface. So much can happen. If this “appearing” talent infusion becomes a reality, you will see some players transfer, IMO.
There are four scholarship openings in 2016 right now, assuming Hatch stays on athletic scholarship. The chances that (a) Irvin and Walton are both around for their senior year, AND (b) Everyone else stays for their junior year – by not going pro or transferring – is pretty low.
Michigan could take a class of PG, Towns, Leaf, and a center, or PG, Town, Leaf, and a 2-guard, depending on how the roster looks. The staff does a great job getting players who can play multiple positions and taking the long view with respect to roster composition. If there are no or few defections, for '16 and '17 the team will have Doyle, Donnal, and maybe Wilson to play the big spots, they’ll have multiple players who can fill the guard and wing roles, etc. I don’t think the staff will stop recruiting Leaf if Towns commits.
PG, Towns, Leaf, and a center
I don’t see this as viable. We have to land a true wing.
Guestavo, do you believe that the staff will stop recruiting Leaf if Towns commits?

No, but UM isn’t likely to take a center. A scenario of PG, Town, Leaf, and a 2-guard would seem most likely.
You may be right that the a 2G is more likely if they land those three, but it might also depend on what the staff sees from MAAR, Dawkins, how the roster shapes up otherwise, how much they like guys, etc. I don’t know. Either way, it seems clear that the staff would take both Towns and Leaf (and a PG) and go from there.
Tired of waiting for Coleman?
Maybe the staff is too.
Word on street 2015 Prince Ali will be visiting Michigan soon for an official. He is Good!!!
I just can’t fathom MAAR and Coleman being our only ball handling wings on the roster and currently, Coleman isn’t even a great ball handler.
I’m a fan of Ali’s game, has defensive versatility - can guard 2,3, and even 4 spots with that athleticism. Reminds me of a bigger, more atheltic version of Oladipo.

Sure they have. In fact, you yourself just posted that they could get both.

In '16-17, Chatman will still be on the roster and will be a good ballhandler by then, if he’s not considered one already. Irvin will be a decent enough ballhandler by his senior year, if he’s not one already. And if one (or both) is (are) not here, that’s one (or two) more roster spot(s) open. I’m not particularly worried about ballhandling under JB’s tenure.
