I think we saw better utliization of our athletes last week in the first half. Threw the ball a ton, let our players make plays. This week, we did so early but after the turnovers, shelled up. Should have kept with putting it in our players’ hands.
I’m generally pretty optimistic by nature, and especially with both UM basketball and football, but I’ve got some real concerns.
Perhaps my biggest concern is that no matter what kind of offense you run, it’s not going to work if you can’t block up front. Charbonnet is a talented back but had only 100 yards on 33 carries yesterday, including getting stuffed twice on fourth down. If you can’t win the line of scrimmage against Army, how can you do it against Big Ten teams with much bigger, better athletes?
The play calling was predictable (if I had to guess, I’ll bet we ran on first down 90% of the time). Our only real advantage was our big, athletic receivers matched up one on one, but we didn’t go to it very often. When we did, Shea overthrew a wide open Ronnie Bell down the sideline, and badly missed Collins in the end zone in OT. When we threw it down the middle it worked, but we only did it 4-5 times at most.
Right now, Wisconsin and PSU are looking very good, OSU is OSU, and all of MSU, Iowa, ND, and Maryland seem capable of being very good. This season could get ugly if we don’t fix the mistakes soon.
I really reveled in the safety and comfort of that glorious bye week. But that’s over now and the harsh reality has set in: this team has to play a football game tomorrow. Against Wisconsin. Dudes, it is so freaking over.
But then I looked at the weather forecast in Madison. Yes! There’s still a chance. This doesn’t have to happen. Think of the safety of the kids!
Another defeatist attitude. Man, let the game happen then cry in your milk if they lose.
You’ve apparently mistaken me for a lazy procrastinator. Never wait for tomorrow for what you can do today. It is the early weeper who gets the worm.
I think there was a generous dollop of satire in his post.
So when does hoops start exactly?
When the man’s right, the man’s right.
what a huge embarrassing failure Harbaugh is.
Michigan football: overrated, big egos. Michigan basketball: underrated, humble. That’s the story every year.
I don’t get Michigan football. I’ve never seen a more delusional fanbase. We have exactly 1/2 a national championship in 70 years and the fans act like it should be the expectation.
Just checking in so the regulars can tell me how everything is still rainbows and butterflies
Could not agree more
Big egos? Huh
I was 15 for the national title. Those were the days!
Patterson just threw a pass to Runyan. I’m going to the bar.
I wish I was in my mid-twenties. Not because of all of the sex and partying, or being further from my inevitable encounter with death, but because I wouldn’t remember when Michigan was good at football. If your team has always sucked it doesn’t hurt as much to see them suck.
